Today was a bit more typical of a Florida
winter day, the high temperature was hovering near 70. Problem is that
tonight it was going to get unseasonably cold. Last night a pesky cold
front made it's way into our area driving us away from the evening at
Magnolia Square. Tonight would be a night of Old Cars, Old Friends and
Englishmen, O.K. Canadians too!
The arrival was a little slow at first,
"Mustang Mike" arrived just after 4:00, "Scary Larry' in his Mustang
followed, Nicky "Bop" only took 3 tries to park his '32 Ford. Paul was
out in his "Toy Truck" followed closely by Jean in here '36 Ford then
Bill in his '81 Blazer. Lenn backed his vintage panel truck into a spot
that "Big John" usually takes. "Cousin John" backed his Caddy in to a
spot next to Nicky "Bop". Dick arrived in his 2+2 Mustang. Ron A backed
his '61 Caddy into his favorite spot. Then Bruce, KD4KXE arrived in his
427 Powered '65 Cobra that he had just finished the new dashboard in,
looked great. Dan, Nick, Jeff and Bob parked the '41 Willys, '32 Ford,
'59 Edsel and '71 Z-28 Camaro in their favorite spots on the South side
of the parking lot by 13th Street. Dave would later join them in his '48
Anglia. Tony & Marianne would be out in the daily driver, the "Black
Beauty" had a radiator problem, before they left home. Don would back
his '68 Mustang Fastback into a spot to the South of the DJ rig. Dennis
& Francine came out to join us, Coy would help Mike with the cones.
"Lucky Louie" would be out in his '52 Ford. "Bo" would have his '70
Monte Carlo out tonight, John R would park his '65 Mustang next to him.
Dane brought out Suzanne's '72 Mustang. Doc would be in the "Tater
Truck". Bill, one of our regular spectators would be taking photos as
usual. "Big George" & Little George" would have the Chevy powered Olds
out. The clutch pedal was in last week, this week it was the new master
cylinder, soon it will have a 5 speed.
Graham, G4HFG from Oldham, England joined
us via the Radio as he does every week. Ed & Sarah had the '62 Corvair
out tonight, it now has new stripes on the hood and trunk. Larry would
be out in "ITZA40" he should be with us for 6 more weeks. Mike parked
his '69 Mustang in it's place of honor. Greg would have his Camaro in
the line by 13th Street. Neil & Elaine would be out in the Healy parked
next to us. Steve Mc, was out in the daily driver. Steve would have his
'77 deVille on the other side of us. Bill in his '63 Pontiac, who is
staying in Daytona this week still has about a month Cruising with us
before going back to Canada. Bob N came straight from work so the '36
Ford was at home. George had his '72 Monte Carlo in the row by 13th
street, Bert parked his '66 Comet beside it. Mike & Carol Weiss, Cruiser
#566, now living in Tennessee, in town for a family birthday this week,
made sure to stop by and visit with all. Good seeing them. The Hudson is
doing well, and Mike is driving the '50 Chrysler around a bit up there.
Al came out in his Model A after 6:30. By now a few were leaving and a
few coming. Like Walt in his '68 SS396 Impala, with the whole family.
Renee was off shopping for the prizes. Marianne was trying to keep Nicky
"Bop" in line. Suzanne brought out flowers for "Doc" and a cake for us
all to have for Valentines day, yum, it was good. Thank You! Brian was
out in Quintino's Chevelle, he was spending the evening with his Aunt.
By now I was loosing tack of who was out
and who wasn't. It must have been the cold or the fact that I am old.
Anyway I think you all know how much of a good time we had, good friends
and great cars. We also got to welcome a new Cruising family, with a '80
Pinto with a V-8 in it. Welcome to Jack, Brenda and family. Jim &
Catalina DiCecco were not out with us tonight, they were out celebrating
their 1st Anniversary.
Yes, George rolled his '61 Falcon into the
lot just after 7:00 as usual. So then we could have the Drawings on
time.
The holder of the winning ticket for the
$70 50/50 was Don Rancourt, Cruiser #66. He donated $5 to the Cruise-In
and $5 to this newsletter, Thank You!
Next week the "Cruise-A-Matic" rolls up to
$175. Stan the "Pacerman" Mull, Cruiser #703, wasn't out tonight, AWWWW
"Cruiser of the Week" went home with John
& Jennifer Robinson, Cruiser #663 in their '65 Mustang convertible. John
rarely misses a Cruise-In when they are in the States. In fact he
Cruised with Bob & Ron for years before he even had a Cruiser, Thank You
John & Jennifer.
On to the Photos..
Congratulations to the winners and a big Thank You to all
that came out tonight.
See you all "Out There"
