Road trips and shows

January 28th

With the threat of rain to leave us by 11:00 a dozen or so cars lined up at the Wal-Mart on Osceola Parkway to head out for the annual run to Don Garlits Drag Racing Museum in Ocala. We were to pick up Bert & Ernie at the Service Plaza at Turkey Lake.

Just after 8:30 Tony & Sharon were waiting in the parking lot in "Lucy" their '69 Ranchero. Steve Mc arrived just after they did. By the time Linda & I got there in out Corvair there were several cars waiting. "Mustang Mike" would meet us on the Turnpike, he had the DJ trailer in tow.

Joe & Andrea were in a daily driver as were Scott & Cindy, Greg & Mindy were in their Camaro. Paul & Betty in their Mustangs, Jack in his '66 Mustang Coupe, and Gary & Wanda in "Remember When". We all made our way to the Toll Plaza, led by Tony our Cruise director, and on to the Turnpike. That was about it for Linda & I, our fan belt broke in two, we did have a spare and we were able to get back on the road, however we now did not have a "Spare". I was very frustrated and we headed for home. The caravan would pick up Bert and "Ernie" at Turnkey Lake as well as Padget in his GTO Judge.

It is hard for me to write any further, I wasn't there but reports have it that a good time was had by all. "Mustang Mike" had a drawing and a 50/50. Bert & Ernie won the 50/50 of $37. Tony took home the tool set supplied by Auto Zone in Saint Cloud.

Here are a few photos that Betty took and one from Jack
