Our day started off a bit later than we had planned it
too. Our faithful alarm, Priscilla, our 17 year old Pomeranian, decided
to sleep in instead of waking us up at 8:30 like she has on so many
other days. So we arrived just before 11:00 at the "Central Avenue
Salon" where we were participating in a "Cut for the Cure". A fund
raising benefit for the: “Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation” In
memory of Linda Martens, founder of the Elite Salon Systems. "Mustang
Mike" donated his time and use of the DJ rig to help promote the cause.
The Salon had lots of extra help from other shops through out Central
Florida. Chris had Coffee and Do-Nuts for all upon arrival. Jaime &
Aglae were there in the little Cobra, Nicky "Bop" in his '32 Coupe,
Terri, one of the Stylists from Longwood and her husband in the late
model S-10, Tony & Sharon in "Lucy", Bert & "Ernie" in the Probe, Gary &
Wanda had both the '55 & '56 Chevy's there. the "Wookie" and Chris were
in his '83 Mustang, Louie in his '52 Ford and we were the last to arrive
in "Elvira" our '60 Ranchero. The flow in and out of the Salon was brisk
for a while. Most stopped to look at the cars and chat with us. Just
about the time the "Lunch", very large and tasty Submarine sandwiches
were offered to all that attended, Tim stopped by in his Monte Carlo to
see what was going on. Tony & Sharon were leaving to meet others that
were at the "Orange Bowl" for a bowling event. They would make it back
to have some of the eats and stay until we all went home at about 3:00.
I didn't get the details on how well
the event went but they sure did treat everyone well. I hope our display
helped them out in this cause. I know that our attendees all had a great
time on a beautiful Sunday. Bert and Terri each one 20.50 in the 50/50.
Thank You, to the Central Avenue Salon
and it's staff for making us feel welcome.
