November 10th

The meeting at the top of the Hill would be with Steve Mc, K4SKM, in his '41 Willys pickup. Mike, N4HHA, didn't get his latest Corvair ready in time to come out tonight but would be joining us later in the daily driver. Lee greeted us at the gate with that welcoming smile. Bratt would be in her regular registration point across from the Haunted House. As we made the turn by the clock we spotted "Big John" and his GT 350 convertible. Bob had the GMC in the "Looney Bin" with Cris and Larry in the Mustang next to him. Many of the regulars were in place on block 3, Roger brought out the Camaro with it's new paint job. Kathy was setting by their Fairlane. After we crossed Florida Plaza and got our cars parked behind "Black Market Minerals" Doris stopped by for a visit, seems like she misplaced Bill for a bit. John, KG4BFJ, would stop out to spend the evening with us as well. The Edsel Brigade, Jeff and Dan Z, arrived a little while later and parked down behind the General Store. Linda, John & I would head up to deliver the newsletters and visit with all that were already in place. Most of the "Redline Rodders" were in place at the top of Block 2. Bob & Marge were in their favorite spot. Ralph & Shirley were under the stairs, Doris finally found Bill under there too. Mark, Mike and Ken & Charlene were halfway down block 1 just where they like it. Emil was out in his '48 Ford and at the very top was Brian in the '67 Chevelle, Quitino and Lisa would be joining him later. We went back down to our car. Annette, N4HHI, and Kristen arrived and went off shopping for a bit. Steve got a call from Neil, they were on their way out in the "Roller". Mike, N4HHA, arrived to meet up with us and his family. Rich Stewart stopped by for a visit, told me of all the plans for the ElCamino, it will be off the road for a few weeks. About quarter to four we started our journey up to "Flippers" for dinner. Of course we had to visit with the new arrivals. Wax and Bruce were at the top of Block 3. Allan arrived in the Old Town '57 Chevy. He had been to an event last night with it. As we crossed Deac Hundley, there it was a '62 Rolls Royce Silver Cloud II with Neil as the chauffeur, complete with cap and Lady Elaine riding in the back doing a regal wave. We ran into "Big John" and Mark R coming down the "Flippers" ramp as we were going up. Jane was there as usual, we found out that her mother lives in the same village back in the UK as Neil & Elaine. Alfresco dinning was the choice, At first there was just the 4 of us but Annette & Mike would join us. Ted, KE4TTE, called on the radio, we put his order in so that he could be served about the time we were. Steve Mc, Neil & Elaine would join us a little later. About that time, Graham, W4HFG, (his call sign in the US) would call on the radio but tonight he was actually on the 417 making his way to their American home just west of Kissimmee. He and Carole were just too beat to try and make it back to Old Town after the flight so they joined in on conversation over the radio. While eating we watched a steady flow of cars arriving with even more regulars headed to "Flippers" for the evenings bill of fare. Pep & Nancy and Lynn joined in on the patio. Ron & Renee sat next to us. Emil and Charlie emerged from the inside dining as did Louie & Linda.

On our way back down to the cars the top 3 blocks were near capacity, Joe & Harriet were out in their Rose colored T-Bird parked near Roger & Sue. John B was out in his 'Vette. Block 4 was filling up and the cars were starting around the corner. "Bo" arrived in his Corvair. Bob also had an English chauffeur, he rode out in Johns Mustang with him. They found spots behind the roller coaster. That 50's Greyhound bus was with us tonight. Mark had made it out, his T-Bucket was parked across from us next to Nick & Francine's '32 Ford 5 Window coupe. The spectator crowd was growing very large and quickly by now. Ed, AJ4CM, stopped out to meet the other HAMS that were out tonight and of course to check out the cars. The rest of the night was spent as usual, assisting the spectators and other Cruisers with the trip down memory lane. Shane in his '57 Chevy arrived a little later than normal, he spent most of the day picking up and playing with his new ATV. Be careful on that thing. We all like to see you out on a Saturday night.

Nikki stopped by with the "Flag Winners" just after 8:20. November, "Cruiser of the Month", Roger Dussault* in his '55 Chevy, would be led to Block 4, that becomes the staging area at this time, by Bratt, Lee, Dave and Gary. Followed by other members of the "Redline Rodders" and the rest of the cars from the top 3 blocks. Laura, KI4ZJX, arrived and darted across the line up while it was waiting and joined us in our Corvair for the trip up "Deac Hundley Avenue. Chris who had been playing a mix of Nostalgic music and radio spots, got word that we were ready to Cruise, he then gave the safety announcements, played the National Anthem, "Wolfman Jack" proclaimed, "It's the Saturday Nite Cruise", right on time, for this the 907th running of this tradition. Bratt & Lee escorted the '55 Chevy followed by the rest of the 227 cars, rolling up the bricks of "Deac Hundley Avenue", delighting a very large crowd of spectators. "Rain or Shine" every Saturday night of the year, there is nothing quite like it for the "Cruisers" and it is always a treat for those watching it from the sidewalks and boulevards.

We came back for part 2 tonight, Roger Poff was to receive his "Cruiser of the Month" jacket and to let Laura in on what happens at the end of the Cruise. Allan gave his energetic performance as usual, we finally spotted Doug & Trish, they came out on the Bikes tonight. The "Sevilles" came back on stage after the Cruise staff signed off.

Thank you Old Town for letting us, the curators of this "Rolling Display of Automotive History", the cars that are the "Stars", to be their guests this evening. Thank you to the Old Town Merchants Association and the Sponsors of this event, "Valvoline", the "A&W", "Tags With Class", "Wound and Around", Pepsi, Roberts Brothers, Race Depot & "Flippers" just to name a few. Thank you to, Allan, Lee, Gary, Miguel, Nikki and the entire Cruise Staff and fellow Cruisers for making this our 259th consecutive Saturday a fun and safe one. Mike Singer, Get Well! We all miss you.
