We had a very hot August evening for our first cruise of the month. It
didn't deter the 149 beautiful cruisers that came out to display their
vehicles. At five o'clock we were followed onto the brick streets by
Buzz and Sue. Tom, Ken, Joe, Stan, Doug and Julie followed with her
black 83 Ford Ranger which is powered by a Chevy motor. Also Todd with
his Monte Carlo.
After we got our parking spaces we roved around to see our many cruiser
friends. We found Roger Rindels who resides in Davenport, he had his
2001 PT Cruiser. He bought this vehicle to pull behind his camper, but
according to him, he couldn't leave it alone and he made a beautiful
cruiser out of it.
The two losers, Tony and Ed had their buddy Ray waiting with them for
their favorite spot. Ken and Wanda were back again with us tonight with
their black and silver Corvette. Official Pace Car. We found another
oldie but we could not find the owners. This is a Gold Mark V Lincoln
Continental and this car is in very good shape we hope they will be back
with us again.
We want to welcome Stan and Maryann Mull with their blue 1977 Pacer.
They get the honor of being cruiser of the month for August. Enjoy it
Stan, you deserve it. He also had a little problem tonight, after the
cruise his head lights would not come on. But with a little help from
his fellow cruisers and some good old American know how, he got them
working again.
We are glad to learn that the Poinciana Kid is home and doing well after
his accident last Saturday. We hope and pray for a complete recovery.
Our staff has made some changes that will prevent this from happening
again. Safety should always be on our minds and never taken for granted.
After the cruise the Trux Plus Club had their regular monthly meeting at
Old Town. Our cruiser friend, Joe Ness will be going home to Pittsburgh
for a month. He plans on redoing his truck.
We hope he has a happy visit and a safe return. We will miss you. His
friend Doug plans on flying up and helping him redo his truck.
It was good to see our cruiser friend Gerald back again with his
Pontiac. We missed you. Two of our flag winners did not claim their
trophies tonight. Allan had two numbers pulled and gave the oil away but
not the flag or money. Good idea Allan.
Our cruise-O-Matic goes to $300.00 next week. No takers tonight. Our
50/50 of $60.00 went to our cruiser friend Ed Guglich.
See you all next week.
