It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas, in the stores anyway. What
happened to Thanksgiving? Just so you remember it is next Thursday and
we won't be cruising. The roads are getting crammed with visitors from
all over the planet and by the way some of them drive, maybe even from
other planets. Sonny, KI4HZP, and Travis, AA9NV, visiting him from
Wisconsin were planning to come out to the Cruise-In tonight. Graham,
W4HFG, when in the states and Carole were also planning on attending to
meet up with them and a few other HAMS that were also going to be out
tonight.
Bill, N2WFU, Trevor & Mr. Lucky along with Louis, KG4QPQ, a neighbor of
Bill's were the first to arrive, even before Linda & I did. They were in
the '98 Lumina, Full Dressed NYPD, squad car. Sonny & Travis followed us
in to the Sonic. Ron backed his '61 Caddy in to his favorite spot before
we even were in ours. "Mustang Mike" backed the DJ Rig into it's regular
place and the night was set. All of the "Bank Cars" were in the spots
along 13th Street. Thank You. Tony & Marianne backed their "Black
Beauty", a '71 Monte Carlo SS into their favorite spot. Steve Mc,
debuted his new car tonight, an original 1929 Model A sport coupe. Paul
brought out this '58 DeSoto and parked it under the big tree. Bob had
the SSR parked in his favorite spot. Jim & Shirley brought out the '62
F-85 convertible. Nicky "Bop" was in his '55 Chevy. "Big John"
brought out a '73 Buick Centurion, it looked like it should have that
"New Car Smell". Ken placed his used car lot next to us as usual Dan Z.
brought out Jeff's '59 Edsel and parked in it's place of honor. By now
the first row was filling up with Bill in his Blazer, John in the "Six
Wheeler" Samurai, Ed & Evelyn in her '64 Corvair Coupe, Ed & Sarah in
the '70 "Shortbox", Bobby in his great '57 Chevy, Russ in the "Wild
Thing, even a "Scott Rod" was spotted. John in his Mustang was next to
"Bo" in the Corvair. Doc was out in the "Tater Truck" Suzanne joined him
later. Bob in his '68 Chevelle was parked along the 13th street side of
the lot. Nick was there as well in the '32 Ford, Fran brought out the
Camaro. Even "Big Jim" was there in that Pro Street Beretta. James had
his Firebird just down from "Big John". "Lucky Louie" was out in his '52
Ford, brother Phillip was in his Camaro and "Cousin John" was in his
daily driver. Graham, W4HFG, along with Carole arrived and wandered
around the cars visiting with the Cruisers.
The lot continued to fill up, Coy was about as was Dana but I think he
was over 'der not over here. Richard and Sally were out visiting. Allan
& Pat brought a surprise birthday cake for "Mustang Mike". It was a
conspiracy I think with Ann and Marianne but I could be wrong. Bob
brought out the '36 Ford and helped out in the trailer as he has done
almost all year. Roger was parked behind Nicky's Chevy with his '86
Mustang. Dick was parked next to him with his 2+2 Mustang. Don parked
his '68 Mustang Fastback across from Ron. Roy had the '64 Galaxie 500
convertible out tonight. Neil & Elaine were out in the '62 TR4. Next
week they are off to Mexico then back here before heading back to the
UK. Just so much going on. Laura, KI4ZJX, brought out her Firebird, she
came out to meet up with the HAM contingency and look at the cars. Whew!
Anyway while we went to the Sonic to eat even more cars made it into the
lot. Ted, KE4TTE, even brought out his "Red Racer" an '06 Nissan that he
is setting up for the Friday Nite Cruise to show to us.
The surprise birthday cake was severed to all that wanted it. Tom was
spotted in his '66 air-conditioned Corvair 4 door. Hank made it to the
lot on his way to work in his "Baja Bug". Ray & Bonnie were out in the
'56 Lincoln, Jerry & Cindi had their '62 Studebaker out. It was a night
of Old friends, I hadn't seen Travis in 30 years and the making of new
friends. It is hard to figure out where the line is between Cruiser,
Spectator or HAM because there isn't one. Just good people enjoying a
nice night out.
I didn't get too many photos, now with the light leaving us as early as
it does. "Lucky Louie" and Tony did the shopping for the prizes, Whistle
Junction donated several "Free Meals" for tonight's drawing.
The winning ticket for the $100 50/50 was in the hands of John Robinson,
Cruiser #663. He donated $20 back to the Cruise-In. Thank You.
On the 29th the "Cruise-A-Matic" rolls up to $275! Cruiser #37, David
Irelan wasn't out tonight.
"Cruiser of the Week" went home in a '81 Blazer with Bill Khoenle.
John & Jonathan received their "Cruiser of the Month" plaque.
Our Holiday schedule was determined last month that
the
Thursday Night Cruise-In will take Thanksgiving off as usual and the
20th and 27th of December. Wednesday Nite Cruise will only take the 26th
of December off.
As always a Big Thank You! To:
