The rain tried to spoil the night for us but we just wouldn't let it.
Most of the "Die Hards" were in place for the Cruise-In early. Linda & I
actually drove through the rain just before 4:00 to get to Saint Cloud.
It did stop by the time we backed the Corvair into it's parking spot.
Graham, G4HFG, from Manchester England checked in over the radio as I
turned off the engine. "Scary Larry" backed his Mustang in to a parking
spot just about the time that "Mustang Mike" arrived. Ron parked his
Caddy next to Rogers Mustang. Paul wheeled his DeSoto into the parking
lot shortly afterwards. Mike & Kristen came out to drop off a few items
for us, their Corvair is still not on the road so they wouldn't be
staying for the event, and we joined then at the Sonic for something to
eat. Bob arrived in his SSR, Nicky in his '55 Chevy, Ken in with his
"Used Car Lot" would park next to us as usual. Ed & Evelyn brought out
her '64 Corvair Coupe. Steve Mc was in the '41 Willys pickup. "Bo" would
park his Corvair convertible next to him. "Cousin John" in his Caddy
would arrive about the time Louie wheeled his '52 Ford into a spot
nearby. Ralph & Shirley were out early for a visit with us. Nick would
bring out his '32 Ford, Fran in the late model Camaro. Bob would be in
his '68 Chevelle SS396. Dan Z was in his '63 Corvair. Jean was setting
with Paul & Bill who was out in his Blazer, she hopes to have her '36
Ford on the road in a few weeks now.
Ed & Sarah came out in the '70 Chevy "Shortbox", they parked next to Ed
& Evelyn. Tom & Diane would park their '31 Ford pickup next in line.
John would be in his Samurai. John & Jonathan had their '67 Camaro
across from us. Bob would park his '36 Ford Humpback at the back of the
DJ rig. James had his Firebird out on the "Frontline". Doc parked
Suzanne's Charger next to John's Camaro. George had his Olds across from
us as well. Larry in his '50 Chevy was parked by Roger's '56
Chevy. About 6:20 we got a little rain, Just about the time that Jeff
brought out his "New" Red & Cream '59 Edsel for the first time. Hank
arrived in his Baja Bug. The "Wookie" parked his Buick on the other side
of us. Al brought out his Model A. Dana was "Over Der!" George rolled
his "Heirloom Falcon" into the parking lot just about 7:00. There was
also a "Timmy" spotting. Barbara V. and her entourage, kids and
Grandkids, also joined in. It is good to have them all back on a
Thursday nite. Dave & Arlene even stopped by in the '56 Mercedes. It was
a small Cruise-In, I tried to mention every one that I spotted but I am
sure I missed someone. Sorry if I didn't mention you.
Roger Fasnacht, Cruiser #81 was awarded his "Cruiser of the Month" cap,
provided by "Embroidery by Rene".
Because we were unsure if the Cruise-In would run to it's conclusion, we
gave out the first half of the 50/50 as $15-$10-$5 prizes. "I Never Win
ANYTHING" Nicky "Bop" Dilullo, Cruiser #691 had the winning ticket for
the remaining $76. He donated $10 back to the Cruise, Thank You.
The "Cruise-A-Matic" rolls over to next week at $150. Cruiser #168,
Jerry Bambace wasn't out tonight when his number was called.
"Cruiser of the Week" went home with Suzanne & Doc Watson in their '72
Dodge Charger.
