It was COLD, OK so that is a relative term. Linda was already wearing
layers, I was still in shorts, after all, most of the world would be
happy with 70 degrees. Anyway we headed out for the Cruise-In a little
early, you know make a few stops on the way. Bill, N2WFU, Trevor & Mr.
Lucky were on their way in the old squad car, Bob, N2SJX, was with them.
We talked over the radio on our trip to Saint Cloud. We arrived a few
minutes after they did just before 4:00. "Mustang Mike" set up the rig
about 4:30. Bob arrived in his SSR, his brother Elmer was with him. Ron
backed his Caddy into his favorite spot just after Nicky "Bop" parked
his 'Vette. "Big John" brought out the '56 Buick, Bob parked his
favorite '40 Buick next to him. Joe & Kay had a week off from bowling so
they were out in "Mini Razz" their Opel GT. George & George parked the
'86 Olds across from us. James was out in his Firebird. Bill had the
Blazer parked down from Steve Mc's Willys pickup. Paul in the DeSoto was
next to him. Jean was out anxiously awaiting the interior for her '36
Ford. "Bo" was out in his Corvair. John, from the Channel Islands had
planned to be with us but his plane was running late, so we will see him
on Saturday. John & Jonathan had the '68 SS Camaro next to him. Doc and
Suzanne were across from him in the "Tater Truck". Larry would be out in
his '50 Chevy. Barbara would come out a little later with the kids and
grandkids. Coy could be seen visiting with everyone, even Dana made a
guest appearance. Don R would debut his latest Mustang, a '68 Fastback
that will get the "Eloise" treatment in the near future. Bob & Nick had
the '68 Chevelle and the '32 Ford parked in "Hot Rod Row". Ian, Larry,
Allan, Fred, Richard & Peter members of the "Smoke City Wheelers", an
American Car Club, from London, England had arrived just an hour
or so earlier spotted us as they drove by. So they stopped in for a
visit. I am sure we will be seeing them at other events while they are
here. John & Shirley came out, another "Snowbird" spotting for the
season. Earlier Walter from upstate New York and Cheryl stopped by. He
didn't bring his Monte Carlo down this trip. Tommy & Mary were in town
so they stopped in as well and spent most of the Cruise with us. Ed &
Evelyn were out in her '64 Coupe. Ed & Sarah were in the '70 "Shortbox"
Chevy pickup. Tom & Diane parked their '31 Ford pickup next to Al's '30
Ford Tudor. Hank stopped by in the Baja Bug on his way to work.
It was a small group, the Mid-Florida Corvettes that
usually bring out a dozen or more cars didn't show up. There were a few
but they didn't stay long.
Mike wound it up a little early, Nicky "Bop" was
whining that it was sprinkling and that he should "Harry Up". Anyway.
the prizes that Allan purchased were given away. the 50/50 was $80, not
bad for the few cars that were out. James Butler, Cruiser # 372 had the
winning ticket.
The "Cruise-A-Matic" rolls over to $225 next week,
Peter Fuchs, Cruiser # 156, wasn't out tonight.
"Cruiser of the Week" went home with Don Rancort,
Cruiser #66, good to have you back in an old Mustang!
John & Jonathan Dilullo, Cruiser # 390 were chosen as
the November "Cruiser of the Month" with their '68 Camaro SS.
It was decided two weeks ago that we will not be Cruising
on Wednesday the 31st of this month, we would give the "Bites" staff the night off
to go Trick or Treating. They will also take Christmas week off. The
Thursday Night Cruise-In will take Thanksgiving off as usual and the
20th and 27th of December.
As always a Big Thank You! To:
The BOA (Bank) Staff for using the spots along 13th Street -
