"Mustang Mike's"
Saint Cloud Thursday Nite Cruise-In

In the Wal-Mart Parking Lot
Next to the Sonic Drive-In
Saint Cloud, Florida

October 18th

It was not a typical fall day here in Central Florida, that was 2 days ago. Today was more like "Mid-Summer", with the temperature over 90 with the humidity to match. Hot, Sticky and Thundershowers. Linda & I would drive our '61 Corvair through 3 separate rains storms in this 7 or so miles to the Saint Cloud Sonic. As we entered the turn lane to make the left at Kissimmee Park road we noticed that "Mustang Mike" was already in place at 4:10 with the Sun shinning brightly. Bill, N2WFU, & the Boys were just behind us. We backed into our regular spot and the rain started again, this time it was just a drizzle as Bill maneuvered his retired NYPD Cruiser into a spot across from the DJ rig. Ron got caught with the top down on his Caddy but he was able to put it up so there wouldn't be too much water accumulating inside the car. Jean was out, she had some good news on her car, she switched interior guys and hopefully it will be on the road in a few weeks. Tony & Marianne arrived in their '71 Monte Carlo about 4:50. Linda & I then headed over to the Sonic. Fenna arrived about the same time, said that Nick and Fran would be out a little later. John B was there in his daily driver with his grandson. We spotted Paul but not the DeSoto. Then Bob backed his '68 Chevelle into a spot along 13th Street. Nick & Fran parked their Camaro next to it. Bob N backed his '36 Ford Humpback behind the DJ rig. Ed & Evelyn had their '64 Corvair coupe under the big shade tree just down from John's Samurai 6 Wheeler. Later Tom & Edna would park the Greenbrier between them. Ed & Sarah would fill out the area in their '70 Chevy "Shortbox". Steve Mc would have the Willys in it's spot of honor. Tom & Diane would be out in their '31 Ford pickup. John & Jonathan would park across from us in their '68 Camaro. Louie was out with out the '52 Ford and "Cousin John" had his Caddy where Nicky "Bop" likes to park. "Bop" ran late and had to park out by Bob & Nick's cars. Bruce, KD4KXE, in his '65 Cobra joined in with us tonight, welcome! Bill Lamping escaped the rehab center, for an authorized outing, with his Son, Daughter in Law and Grandson. He is on the mend. Good seeing you. Graham, G4HFG, from Oldham, near Manchester, England would check in over the radio as usual.

Roy had the '64 Galaxie out, parked next to Jim's '67 GTO. Steve, Charlie and Marie were out in the '77 deVille. Bib George & Little George had the '86 Olds out. Doc brought out the "Tater Truck", Suzanne joined him later. Larry had his '50 Chevy parked next to Bill's Blazer, Barbara and the rest of the family came a little later. Hank in his Baja Bug arrived just before dark. Tim was out as was Coy and a few of our Regular spectators. Dave & Arlene stopped by for a few minutes, always good to see them out visiting. I know we will see more of them as the weather goes back to being "Fall", what ever that is, we just don't seem to be able to get it that way for very long.

Because we were not sure if the Cruise-In would go on for the whole night we chose to give cash prizes, So the first half of the $170 that was collected was given out in $20-15-10 & $5 prizes totaling $85. Patricia Rolfe, a spectator, vacationing from the South East, UK,  had the winning ticket for the other $85.

"Mr. Lucky" the junior Cruisin' Dog, I mean Bill Azar, Cruise #12, would receive this week's "Cruiser of the Week". It would go home in the 1998 Lumina NYPD "Movie Car" and retired RMP from New York City.

The "Cruise-A-Matic" rolls up to $200 next week. Cruiser #643, Victor Bernabe, wasn't out tonight.

It was decided last week that we will not be Cruising on Wednesday the 31st of this month, we would give the "Bites" staff the night off to go Trick or Treating. They will also take Christmas week off. The Thursday Night Cruise-In will take Thanksgiving off as usual and the 20th and 27th of December.

As always a Big Thank You! To:

The BOA (Bank) Staff for using the spots along 13th Street - AutoZone - Beef O’Brady’s  - Sonic -  Saint Cloud NAPA - Whistle Junction and all those that continue to support our Cruise-In with Prizes. To “Mustang Mike” for entertaining us every week.

Congratulations to the winners! Thank you all for coming out.

See you all "Out There"
