It was a beautiful sun filled afternoon, the temperature was near 90
degrees, Ian, Sue, John and Ann. English HAM radio operators and friends
to the Cruise stopped by our house just before we headed out. They are
headed back to the UK tomorrow morning. There was a 40% chance of rain,
a few dark clouds in the sky. As we neared Saint Cloud there was this
rather large dark cloud just above our Cruise-In parking area. We parked
the Corvair just after 4:10. Tony & Sharon arrived in the '77 Starfire,
this would be their last Cruise with us. Moving to the "Nort" on Sunday.
That cloud decided to let loose just about then so we went over to the
Sonic to get something to eat. It rained very heavy for about 25
minutes, "Scary Larry" joined us under the canopy, Ken also came over
just before "Mustang Mike" came over to the Sonic. He was unable to park
in his regular spot, there were a few bank cars and some guy living in a
van blocking his area. James, in his "Firebird" also came over. I talked
with Bill, N2WFU, over the radio, they will be leaving New Jersey on the
23rd to make their way back to Florida. He says "Hello" to all from him,
Virginia and the "Boys". Graham, G4HFG, checked in over the HAM radio
from Manchester, England.
Just before 5:00 the rain stopped and the Sun was back. Jeff, in his
Edsel, parked upfront and was waiting for Dan Z. He had just arrived
home from a vacation and his Dad and brother were with him. Nick &
Francine arrived just before Bob in his Chevelle. Nick's coupe was
sporting a new "Roller Black" paint job. Looked good. Bert & Ernie
arrived in their '66 Comet wagon. Doc was out in the Charger, Dane was
piloting the "Tater Truck". Paul had the DeSoto in his favorite spot.
Bill was in the Blazer across from him. Mike & Kristen had their Corvair
across from us. Bob parked his '36 Humpback behind the trailer. The
Music was started after Mike was able to park the DJ rig in it's normal
spot. Jonathan was out in his Camaro. Mike had his "ScottRod" in it's
place of honor. "Bo" had his Corvair parked up from Doc's cars. Ed &
Sarah were out in their daily driver.
Then the rain started all over again. We sure tried to have this
Cruise-In, it was just not to be. 6:30 we bid Tony & Sharon a fond
farewell and promised to stay in touch. They will be missed from our
family of Cruisers.
No drawings or Cruise-A-Matic. No new "Cruiser of the Week".
