It was one of those Hot August Days. Heat Index over 100 degrees a 30%
chance of rain and Linda & I were late getting out of the house. When we
arrived at the site of the Cruise-In "Mustang Mike" was already parked
in place and Gary & Wanda were out in their '55 Chevy. We took our
regular spot, Linda went over to the Wal-Mart, I placed the chairs under
the canopy of the Sonic just behind our car. Bob was next to arrive in
his SSR, he will be out of the Cruising circuit for a few weeks, next
Thursday he goes in for a surgical procedure. Here's whishing you a
speedy recovery Bob. See you in a month or so. Dan Z was the next to
arrive in his Corvair, Ron backed his Caddy into his favorite spot. Paul
parked his DeSoto under the big shade tree, next to Gary & Wanda. Nicky
"Bop" only took 1 try tonight to get his '32 Ford next to him. Tony &
Marianne parked the "Black Beauty" 1 space away from him. Louie would
later park his '52 Customline there. Tony & Sharon arrived in their '77
Olds Starfire, I guess this must be "Lucy's, Desi". Ken would park his
"Used Car Lot" on the other side of us as usual. I spotted Don M
wandering around, he is putting together a few cars in his shop, the
latest is a Corvair convertible. Jean was spotted in the group down by
Paul. The "Poinciana Kid" stopped by for a few minutes in his daily
driver. John B had his "Slick 51" under the shade tree, he just got back
from Michigan. Bill backed his Blazer in next him. Ton & Diane would
park their '30 Ford Model A pickup in it's place of honor.
As the night went on the cars kept coming in. #1 Looser parked his
'Vette with the others that made their way into the lot from the
"Mid-Florida Corvette Club", 16 in all would join in with us tonight as
they do on the last Thursday of each month. Mike M would bring out his "ScottRod"
after a recent engine and transmission transplant. Ron H had his '53
Chevy down by Bill's Blazer and Curt's 48 GMC. Al would bring his Model
A out and park next to Doc & Suzanne's Charger. Mike D was able to bring
his Cobra out tonight. His normal Thursday scheduling conflict was not
keeping him away tonight. Good to see you. Bobby S, still working on his
'57 Chevy came out to see us all. There were just so many people out
tonight, all of the "Regulars" that we see each and every week. Ed &
Sarah in the "Shortbox" Chevy pickup. The "Wookie" in his Mustang. Andy
& AJ were seen visiting with everyone. Bert & "Ernie" were out in the
'66 Comet wagon. Steve was out with out his Caddy. Roy in his Galaxie.
Bob in his Chevelle, Nick & Fran in the '32 Ford and the Camaro. Phill
in his Camaro. Jaime & Aglae in their Cobra. Little George and Big
George would debut the new paint job on the '86 Hopped up 350 Chevy
powered Olds Cutlass. The Nelson's would visit with us all, young
grandson directing them to the cars he liked. John & Terri would bring
out their '67 Mustang. Jeff would make it to the lot, straight from work
so the Edsel was at home but he made it! Larry, Barbara and the whole
family were back again tonight. Brian & Lisa were seen piloting a '07
Stroller with Quintino at the wheel, they are in between "Cruisers", the
Nova has been sold. The list would go On and On. Let's just say it was a
great night with good friends, like it is every week. We did have a good
number of spectators that would drool over the cars.
George would roll his "Heirloom '61 Falcon" into the parking lot after
7:00 as usual so we all knew it was nearing time for the drawings, Allan
would do the shopping once again. 2 Cases of Synthetic Oil was also
given to us by AutoZone.
Mike Dickerson, Cruiser # 752, out in his '65 Cobra would be the holder
of the winning ticket for the $115, 50/50. Much to my surprise he
donated the entire amount to this newsletter. Thank You, Mike! It sure
helps to keep this publication going. Donations are always welcome. The
$50 "Cruise-A-Matic" grows to $75 for next week. Cruiser # 757, Bob &
Kathy Miriello were not out tonight.
"Cruiser of the Week" went home in that newly painted '86 Olds, that
looks like a Grand National Buick, with Cruiser # 387, George Simpson.
Gary & Wanda were awarded the September 2007 "Mustang Mike, Cruiser of
the Month" award.
Oh it did drop about 10 or so really big raindrops on us just before we
gave away the cash. Then it stopped.
As always a Big Thank You! To:
