"Mustang Mike's"
Saint Cloud Thursday Nite Cruise-In

In the Wal-Mart Parking Lot
Next to the Sonic Drive-In
Saint Cloud, Florida

June 7th

The weatherman was promising rain, after last nights 7 inches that fell in Northern Osceola County we were sure the Cruise-In would be very small. It did start off very slow, Bob was the first to arrive in his SSR, he is still looking for "Just the right car" so he is still bringing out his '05, 427 Powered Retro-Truck. He never misses a Thursday Nite. Nicky "Bop" was out in his "Looking for an Echo", of course he had to be in the way! Just kidding, he was trying to park in his favorite spot as "Mustang Mike" was moving the DJ rig from the front spot to where we are used to seeing him. It was just about 4:45 when the last "Bank Car" pulled out. Tony & Marianne called in, the sky was very threatening down in "Daventucky". The radar looked as though they were going to get the worst of it very soon, the Rain clouds would stall out tonight over them instead of us like last night. "Doc" arrived in the "Tater Truck", Bob was out in his Chevelle. Nick & Fran had Ashley & Daniel, the grandkids, out with them along with Fanny. He should have his coupe back up and running next week. Dick was on his motorcycle, the heads from the Mustang are going in to be checked out. Joe Z pulled "Razzy" into it's place of honor, Kay drove "Razz", her matching '70 Corvette, and parked it next to the Opel. Kelly, a friend from out of town rode with her and enjoyed the Cruise-In. Tom and Diane had their Model A pickup out, Bill parked his Blazer next to Paul's  DeSoto. Larry and his brother were out in the Candy Apple Red, shoebox Ford. Louie was in his '52 Ford, Phillip would arrive  a little later in the Camaro. The "Big Drink" from the Sonic was out mingling with the Cruisers.

Scott, KG4CKL, yes another amateur radio guy, Soleil and his dad were out in his '66 Volkswagen, he was very excited about his latest purchase, a '64 Corvair Monza 900, he can't wait to start putting that one back together. Tony was out in "Sunny" sans Sharon, she was having a "ladies day out" with her sister in Orlando. Roger K settled in with the bunch at the corner, in front of Ron's Caddy, that included Dana "I'm over here! What you doin over der?" Jonathan was spotted with even more family members in his Camaro. Hank, a 3rd shift worker at Universal, cruised on in, on his way to work, as usual in his "Baja Beetle". He starts out his day at a Cruise-In. The "Wookie" was out in his Buick. "Big George" & "Little George" parked the Olds where Ken had pulled his car lot out from, Shirley is still not feeling well and he took her home a "Root Beer Float". There were quite a few regulars but only about 40 cars, the summer months are usually hot and sometimes very wet, so this may be the size of the get together until it cools off a bit. Bob parked his '36 Ford Humpback by the trailer and assisted Mike with the ticket sales. "Bo" had his Corvair down by "Doc".

The evening was as usual, lots of spectators tonight, Even George and Al made it out before 7:00. The "Big Drink" and a few of the staff from the Sonic brought over free "Root Beer Floats" for all of the Cruisers. Lyle from Lenny's was out participating in tonight's Cruise. He even donated a few "Pre Registrations" for his upcoming event on July 1st at "Lenny's". Remember, all Pre-Registrations are guaranteed a Trophy. The deadline is June 15th. If you sign up at a Thursday Nite it is only $20. $30 the day of the event. Sounds like a fun one.

Tonight because it looked like it might rain, no shopping for prizes was done. Instead Mike gave cash away totaling $95. The 50/50 was $87 not bad for a small group. Stephen Messina, Cruiser #392 had the winning ticket. He donated $10 back to the Cruise-In, Thank You!

The "Cruise-A-Matic" of $100 would have gone home with Jim Burchett, Cruiser #604 that is if he would have come out tonight. Awww. There will be $125 in next weeks offering.

"Cruiser of the Week" went home in that Tri-Power '61 Caddy convertible of Ron Adamson. He actually took the T-Shirt that his wife Rene donates every week. "She won't make me one of these, only the Cruiser of the Week get's one", he said. It is a very special design that she has come up with for this honor.

We did have a few drops fall but that was it. The rest of the night was cooled by the breeze and overcast sky.

As always a Big Thank You! To:

AutoZone - Beef O’Brady’s - Quiznos - Sonic -  Sonny’s (Pleasant Hill Road) - Saint Cloud NAPA - Whistle Junction and all those that continue to support our Cruise-In with Prizes. To “Mustang Mike” for entertaining us every week.

Here are a few photos.

Congratulations to the winners, a special Thank You to Sonic and especially to all of you that came out tonight.

See you all "Out There"
