This first day of summer lived up to it's name. Hot, Sunny with a
beautiful blue sky speckled with puffy white clouds. We made up for last
nights tardiness by being the first one to arrive tonight. Steve backed
the Corvair into our regular spot nestled by 5 bank cars at 3:55.
Graham, G4HFG, checked in from Manchester, UK over the radio, "Mustang
Mike", off the throne at last, set up the DJ rig along the 192 side of
the parking lot at 4:25. Bob was the next to arrive in his SSR. Louie
rolled his '52 Ford into the lot, Paul parked his DeSoto under the big
shade tree. "Big John" arrived in his GT350 and parked under the little
shade tree. Ron wheeled his Caddy into the lot and parked in his
favorite spot. Dan Z drove his Corvair convertible with Kyle and
Kristina, his visiting grandkids from the upper mid-west. Ken's used car
lot never did open, he just enjoyed the night, he had to park on the
other side of us and not in his regular spot. Ken had a good chuckle
with us when "Cletus", a '30 Chevy came sputtering around the corner,
piloted by Tony with Marlene in the passenger seat. Ken is the same age
as the car and he said he thought it was in much better shape. Mike and
Kristen parked their Corvair across from us. We all went over to have
something to eat at Sonic. Richard brought out his Packard, he and Edna
have been battling some health issues but right now things are pretty
good. Always good seeing him out as well. Jack was out in his '29 Model
A sport coupe, he has been doing some traveling.
While at the Sonic a few more Cruisers came in. Nick in his '32 Ford,
Bob in the Chevelle, Jack had a V-8 powered Pacer. All of the "Regulars"
were on the corner with Ron. Roy had his Infiniti, Dick was still on his
motorcycle. Roger and Harry, "Bo" was in his Corvair, John in his
Mustang was next to him. Doc & Susan in the "Tater Truck". Ed & Evelyn
stopped out in the daily driver, Jeff had his Fiero, The Lamb's were in
the Healy and the '67 Ford. Al was out in his Model A. The list goes on
and on. Dana was over "Der". Jonathan was escorted by his sisters and
his dad in the '67 Camaro. Bob M. celebrated his 71st Birthday with us.
John was out in his Caddy as was Steve, Charley and Marie in the '77
deVille. Lyle brought out his Hot Rod, Mike M was in his maroon "Scott
Rod". Bill in his Blazer. now my memory is failing, oh well. It was a
small but fun group tonight. I guess it was the heat or maybe it was the
fact that the weather man told us it was a 60% chance of rain. Well,
other than a little this morning, it did not rain. Bob was out in his
daily driver, helping "Mustang Mike" with ticket sales as usual. Nicky
"Bop" had his "looking for an Echo" in the "Cruiser of the Week" spot.
Tonight's 50/50 was $80, Dan Z had the winning ticket, he donated $20
back to the Cruise to split between the Cruise and this newsletter,
