It was a great day for a Cruise In. There was only a 10% chance of rain,
a bit warm and a few dark clouds. When Linda and I arrived there were 5
"Bank Cars" where "Mustang Mike" likes to set up. We decided to wait
until a few left so that he wouldn't have to park out front and to give
the weather a chance to figure out if we were in the 10% category. Tony
& Marianne were the first to arrive in "Black Beauty" the '71 Monte.
Paul came in and parked down by the big shade tree. Ken parked his "Used
Car Lot" next our Corvair. It was a slow start, Nicky "Bop" had his
Chevy out tonight. "Bo" was in his Corvair, Clay in the 'Vette. Doc was
in the "Tater Truck" of course. He finally got the keys to his new shop!
Nick was out, the Coupe is just about ready. A few glitches in acquiring
some parts but hopes to have the motor back in tomorrow. Ron Hood was
out in his '53 Chevy, he and Shirley had been out of town for a month or
so. Now off to a Model A show in Williamsburg Virginia this week end. Al
was out in his Model A, Hank in the "Baja Bug". The Lambs in the Healey.
Bill's Blazer was parked by Paul. Roy mentioned that he picked up a '64
Ford convertible. It will be nice to see it out after a few repairs.
Lyle was out for a while. Mike and daughter Kristen stopped by for a few
minutes and signed up for the "Lenny's" show on July 1st. It should be a
good one. Food and drinks along with the "Bud Girls". John, just in from
the Channel Islands, was out in his Mustang. He should be with us for a
few months, Always a pleasure Cruising with him. So, yes, the Three
Stooges" are among us once again. Bert & "Ernie" were back from their
trip to Indiana, they made it unscathed. Clay was out in his "Vette. We
spotted a new car, well a '65 Austin, Mini. It was just shipped in and
was the owners fathers car that he bought new. Hope they join us as
regulars. Tony & Sharon were out in the "No Pest Strip", they will be
heading off soon for a vacation in Wisconsin. Ron Adamson drove in "Top
Down", wearing the special Thursday Nite Cruise-In T-Shirt and parked
the Caddy in it's spot of honor. I mentioned most that were out, missed
a few, small but good crowd. The "Mustang Twins" stopped by, they were
in town for final cleanup to sell the house, The cars are already in the
Carolina's.
Those that didn't come out tonight missed a great night for a Cruise, it
never rained on us. These Summer nights are always hard to figure out.
We just show up and hope for the best. The "Whistle Junction" show last
Monday night was a success, It will become an "Every Second Monday" get
together. Hope we can make it the next time.
The "Cruise-A-Matic" of $125 would have gone home with Bob Mc Daniel,
cruiser # 20, if he would have been out. Awwwww. So next week we have
$150 in the offering.
"Doc" Watson was awarded his "Cruiser of the Month" plaque. "Cruiser of
the Week" went home with Nicky "Bop", Cruise #691 in his split manifold
Stove bolt Chevy.
Our shopping was done by Allen and Tony, great job guys. Bill Khoenle,
cruiser # #124 had the winning ticket for the $80 50/50, he donated $10
to this newsletter, Thank You.
