"Mustang Mike's"
Saint Cloud Thursday Nite Cruise-In

In the Wal-Mart Parking Lot
Next to the Sonic Drive-In
Saint Cloud, Florida

May 3rd

We headed out to the Cruise-In just before 4:00PM, the traffic was light so we arrived earlier than anticipated. The prime 20 parking spots that we have been using on Thursday Nites have now been leased to the Bank on the corner, so the area that we have been using for the DJ rig was now occupied by employee cars. We have been trying to enlist their cooperation on keeping at least the area for the Trailer to be open by 4:30 but have not made contact yet. We parked the Ranchero under the canopy at the Sonic until we started to see some movement of the cars and the arrival of the Cruisers. "Mustang Mike" had a flat on the rig so he was running a little late. We agreed, over the phone that he would have to park the rig to the South, Next to 13th Street. There was also a motor home parked in the area that the Muscle Cars like to park.

Anyway, 1 car moved in time for Ron A to park his Caddy in it's favorite spot. Paul managed to park his DeSoto a little further down, it was already open. About 4:45 another car moved so that Bill, Virginia & the Boys could park the yellow 'Vette where they like to. This will be the last Thursday until September for her, Bill and the Boys should be back next week. Haywood & Linda were the next to arrive in their El Camino. Bob B had his silver SSR just where he liked it. Then many of the other "Regulars" started to arrive, Tony & Marianne in the "Monte", Bert & Ernie in the Probe. Dave in his '65 Anglia, first time out. Steve Mc in the "Grinster", Max in one of Jack's Javelins. Bill in his Blazer, Jean, still waiting for her '36 Ford to be finished. "Doc" in the "Tater Truck". By 5:10 3 more of the "Bank Cars" pulled out opening up a few more spots. Ed & Sarah arrived in the Chevy "Shortbox". Jack then arrived in an AMC Pacer. Richard was out in his '30 Ford Deluxe. "Too many shiny things on this one" he said. Ed & Evelyn in their Corvair convertible. Dan Z was out in a 90's Mustang Convertible, he has already traded it off on a Corvair. The motor home left in time for Bob N to park his '36 "Humpback near the trailer. Bob arrived in his Chevelle, Nick rode along with him, Francine and Fanny joined later. "Bo" parked his Corvair up in it's place of honor. By now it was time to eat. Tony & Sharon arrived in "Lucy" to park in the recently vacated spot, only 1 bank car left.

While we were under the canopy at the Sonic, the lot started to fill up, Dave and Arlene parked a '57 Chevy in front of the DJ rig. She had a great shade tree to relax under. "Big Jim" brought in his Beretta, John & Jonathan were in their SS Camaro, I think that must have been some more of the family with them.  Ed rolled his 'Vette into the lot, Stephen was in his 'Vette as well. Tony and Marlene parked their 'Vette under the Canopy at Sonic, said it was to dirty to park with the rest of us. The original "Mr. DeSoto", Gordon and his bride Lila were spotted as well as Tommy & Mary. Chris & Donna were out in their '66 GMC pickup. The list goes on and on, it was a great night, even "Hot Rod Row" had at least one "Scott Rod" and the "Wild Thing" in it. Jeff and Harry were both spotted, sans their Edsels.
