What a great night for a Cruise-In, the weather was just about perfect.
As you may have found out by now, Wal-Mart has leased the parking area
that we use for the Cruise-In to the Bank of America for Employee
Parking. Cars lined the area that "Mustang Mike" sets up the DJ Rig and
across from it. There was a Motor Home with a very long trailer parked
in the next parking area. That left us with about a dozen spots to park
cars. Bill & the "Boy's in the yellow 'Vette, were the first to be out.
He called me to apprise me to this as Linda and I were making our way to
Saint Cloud. It was a MESS. Tony & Marianne's Monte gave them fits on
the way, so they were out in the Daily Driver. Bob N. was out without
the '36 Humpback. Seems like ignition problems. Our little Corvair that
was now very shiny thanks to Bob, was pitching a fit as well. It didn't
want to be parked where it was, Tony & Marianne's regular spot. It was
about the only one open when Mike finally moved the rig in place. It was
like someone tipped the first domino. No spark, then no gas (gauge read
1/4 tank), then the battery clamps were corroded and with the cranking
lost contact, then the jump box went dead. Then a bolt was needed
for the broken one. Get the picture? Needless to say I was in a very
dark place. I would like to thank everyone that came to my assistance,
Bill, John (KG4BFJ),Tony, Stephen, Dave along with all of the rest of
you. At one point I was ready to abandon the car. We all get frustrated
when things that are suppose to work, don't.
I will try and recall who I saw, Dan Z, "Big Jim", Ron H., Ron A., Gary
& Wanda, Ed & Evelyn, Tom, Edna and Noel. Curt, Ed & Sarah, "Doc",
Suzanne and Cara, Louie that had the bolt I needed. Tony & Sharon. "Bo",
Steve Mc, Neil & Elaine, Dave & Arlene, just to name a few. More than a
dozen member of the Mid-Florida Corvette Club, thanks for coming out.
Linda & I had a treat, while I was in my "Bad Place" daughter Leigh Anne
& grandson Gabryel stopped by the Cruise-In for a visit. Lots of the
regulars and some that hadn't been out for a while came out tonight
including Jim in his Orange '72 Challenger! Good to see you on a
Thursday! We even had a '71 AMC Hornet in the lot. Jeff even talked Dan
Z into staying to the end again. I had gained my composure by the
drawing time.
During the Crusie-In Tony was signing up people for the event at Cypress
Gardens on May 20th. We sure would like to have 40 cars to go to this
event so that we could win the $500 for a BBQ in June. "Mustang Mike"
also made mention of it before the drawings. The "Big Yard Sale" on the
18th & 19th of May at Tommy's house was also mentioned.
The "Mustang Mike" Cruiser of the Month, for May was announced, so next
week, Bob Nagro, Cruiser #510, will be awarded the Plaque and hat.
"Cruiser of the Week" went home with Ron Bozarth, Cruiser #179, in his
'64 Corvair. I have placed the photo of his Original '70 Monte Carlo on
the website. He can bring what ever one he wants next week.
The 50/50 of $114 went home with Evelyn Booher, Cruiser # 632, that sure
will come in handy, they just got back from an extended trip to
Pennsylvania. Welcome home! She donated $20 back to the Cruise-In.
Next week we will have $125 in the "Cruise-A-Matic", Howard Hawkins,
Cruiser # 600, wasn't out tonight.
After the Cruise-In, Linda and I had a chance to visit with Gabryel
while he ate his Ice Cream cone at the Sonic that Mike had given him the
ticket for. "Creamy", he said. It was is first Ice Cream on a cone!
As always a Big Thank You! To:
AutoZone - Beef O’Brady’s - Carvel - Dad’s New York Deli -
Sonic - Sonny’s (Pleasant Hill Road) - Whistle Junction All those that continue to
support our Cruise-In with Prizes. To “Mustang Mike” for entertaining us
every week.
Here are a few photos.

Congratulations to the winners and
Thank You to all that came out
tonight.
See you all "Out There!"
