Dark storm clouds were looming to the West of Kissimmee all day, they
drifted towards us very slowly. The chance of rain always keeps many of
the Cruisers away, tonight would be no exception. Linda & I arrived at
the "Square" in our Corvair, the sky in Saint Cloud was bright and Sunny
but over to the West it was still the dark clouds. We hadn't heard of
any rain anywhere yet. "Mustang Mike" pulled in and parked the DJ rig in
it's place about 4:45. It wasn't until after 5:15 that we would see
another Cruiser make their way into the lot. "Big John" arrived in this
Harvest Yellow over Tahitian Coral, 1956 Buick Special Riviera 2 Door
Hardtop. It was a Senior Winner in 2006 from the AACA. Just over 29,000
miles on the speedometer. This thing was beautiful. All that chrome. Ron
A would park his '61 Caddy behind the DJ rig about 5:45, Dick would
bring his Mustang 2+2 into the lot right after him. Dick was "Out in the
Woods" for the past 6 weeks or so. A trip to Canada then the Carolina's
have had him busy.
Nick in his '32 Ford Street Rod and Bob in the '68 Chevelle were the
next to arrive. Paul came out in his daily driver, Tommy & Mary were
going to join us about 7:00. Josh, KI4UCB, and Vince, KI4VSR, fellow
HAMs and Old Car enthusiasts stopped out for a while. Graham, G4HFG,
checked in over the Radio from Oldham, near Manchester, England. He also
brought in a San Diego repeater and Bernie, W1CDM, to check on the
Firestorms out there.
Then at 7:00 "Mustang Mike" who hadn't set up yet, waiting for a few
more cars, decided to call the Cruise after talking with Chris. Al then
rolled his Model A into the lot followed by George in the '61 Falcon.
No Cruise-In next week. The "Cruise-A-Matic" stays at the current level.
So officially it was a rain out. We did get some rain on the drive home.
