It was 4:15 when Linda & I arrived at the "Square",
it was a beautiful day, a light breeze and a little cooler. "Mustang
Mike" was in place by 4:30. I think I said that last week didn't I?
Anyway that is the way it was again this week. This time of the year is
what we all wait for. After so many months of high Humidity and those
"Feels like 100 degrees" days hopefully are behind us for a while. Our
"Snowbirds" should start showing up before too long and all of those
Cruisers that don't like the heat will be back. Roger, "Scary Larry", in
his '86 Mustang, was the first to arrive, even he came after 5:00.
"Cousin John" backed his '72 deVille in to his favorite spot a few
minutes later. Richard F brought out one of his many cars, a '29 Model A
Tudor. Then Louie arrived in his '52 Ford followed by Ron in his '61
Caddy. Then Nick arrived in his '32 Ford followed by Bob in the '68
Chevelle. They had a great time at the NSRA show over in Tampa this last
weekend. It was starting to get a little dark by now and Andy in his '79
deVille and the "Wookie" in his '83 Mustang were the next to arrive
followed closely by Jim Rouse in his '67 GTO. Steve & Charlie in the '77
deVille parked in the spot to the East of us. Tom & Diane brought out
their '31 Ford pickup, Roy was in his Infinity, Don R said he would have
his latest Mustang out tomorrow night. Al chugged his '30 Ford Tudor
into the lot and parked next to Tom & Diane's pickup. Then last but not
least, a little early even was George in his heirloom '61 Falcon.
The night was full of Car Talk and even several
spectators made it into the lot. Chris was around for a while. Graham,
G4HFG, checked in a little later than normal from Manchester, England
over the radio. He rarely misses a Cruise that we attend. His son should
be over in a few weeks, he too will stop by for a real time visit.
This is always a good evening with friends, the
topics are from recipes to engines. We have even had a few ideas on how
things should really be, along with how they were.
Tonight's 50/50 of $33 went home with Ron Adamson,
Cruiser #169. If Cruiser #166, Gary Thompson would have been out he
would have been $30 richer as his number was chosen for the
"Cruise-A-Matic". Next week there is $40 in the offering.
"Cruiser of the Week" went home in that '67
GTO and
Jim Rouse, Cruiser #209.
