We actually made it through the night without any
rain!
It was 4:15 when Linda & I arrived at the "Square",
it was a beautiful day, a light breeze and a little cooler. That is if
you can call 89 cooler, the humidity was a lot lower so it was really
nice. Roger was the next to arrive in his '86 Mustang, he parked next to
us. Karen, his wife was out in the daily driver, Roger was going to
treat her to a meal tonight. I sure hope it wasn't for their Anniversary
or her Birthday, that was last month on the 2nd and 26th, Roger. Oh, I
see, you had to wait until you had a "Bites" gift certificate! Better
late than never.
"Mustang Mike" pulled the DJ rig into it's spot just
about 4:30. Paul parked the DeSoto in his favorite spot to the West of
the patio. He said Tommy & Mary will be in town on the 24th & 25th, they
will stop by the Cruise-In's to visit. Then "Cousin John" parked his '72
Caddy on the East side of the patio. Sarah called to say that Ed M. had
a bit of a stomach bug and that the '70 "Shortbox" wouldn't be out
tonight, Get well Ed! Louie backed his '52 Ford into his favorite spot.
Ron A parked the '61 Caddy convertible next to him. Tom & Diane putted
the Model A pickup into the lot and parked in their favorite spot. Bob
backed his '68 Chevelle into a spot next to our '61 Corvair. Andy
arrived and placed his '79 deVille next to Ron's Caddy. Then the
"Wookie" parked his '66 Buick beside him. Steve & Charlie would fill out
the row with their '77 deVille. It was a while before Roy would arrive
in his '64 Galaxie and park it next to "Cousin John".
It was decided tonight that we will not be Cruising
on the 31st of this month, we would give the "Bites" staff the night off
to go Trick or Treating. We will also take Christmas week off.
Just after 7:00 George rolled his "Heirloom" '61
Falcon onto the lot. So this made a total of 13 cars. Not too bad for
the first Cruise-In, in over a month. I was kinda thinking that it would
have been a bigger turn out as nice as it was. Then again it may have
been the first day that some of the Cruisers could have gotten to cut
the grass.
The holder of the ticket for the $25 50/50 was Diane
Hoboth. The "Cruise-A-Matic" rolls over to $30 for next week. Cruiser
#200, Ellis Hagerman Sr. wasn't at the event. It is a little early for
them, they are "Snowbirds" from Kentucky.
"Cruiser of the Week" went home in that '61 Falcon
and
George Crofut, Cruiser #208.
