What looked like it could be a RAINOUT turned out to be a very pleasant
night, 15 cars would eventually make their way into the "Square". It
wasn't until about 4:30 that Linda and I would arrive in our little
Corvair. It had rained quite heavily a little earlier at our house but
there were not many signs of rain on the way down US192 on our way to
Saint Cloud. The sky was pretty dark to the East. The breeze picked up a
bit and it looked as though we were in for some more rain. "Mustang
Mike" placed the DJ right in it's spot for the night about 4:45, Roger
arrived in his Mustang and parked next to us. It was a while before
anyone else would make their way. Bert & "Ernie" were the next to arrive
with family from Indiana. That's right Bert's Mom, sister Roberta and
Hank came out to join in tonight. Always good to see them when they are
in town. Louie would then pull his '52 Ford into his favorite spot.
"Cousin John" would arrive next and park on the other side of our
Corvair. Ron then chugged his Model A into the parking lot and placed it
just to the West of the DJ rig. Nick would then park his 5 window coupe
next to him. Fran & Fanny came out in the daily driver. Ed & Sarah
backed the '70 "Shortbox" Chevy next to Louie. Then Andy piloted his '79
deVille into it's place of honor. Roger, "Scary Larry", fearing the rain
took his Mustang convertible home. While we were deciding whether or not
to call it a RAINOUT, Dick arrived in his 2+2 Mustang, Bob parked his
'68 Chevelle next to Nick, Steve & Charlie would bring out the '77
deVille. "Scary Larry" returned in his daily driver and the skies
cleared up and the temperature lowered a bit. Thanks, Roger.
The night was spent as usual, the regular camaraderie
would be the course for the night. "Armadillo Red", came out in his
daily driver and would visit for a while. Just before 7:00 Al parked his
Model A in the "Front Line". The Sun is setting a little earlier now and
it wasn't as glaring under the canopy, that made the evening very
pleasant. The crew at "Bites" was quite busy taking care of all of the
requests from the Cruisers, Chris was there and made us all feel
welcome. Yes George did make it out, in his Falcon, just enough time to
get something to eat and be with us for the drawings.
"Lucky Louie" Piazza, Cruiser #9, as we call him
again, was the holder of the winning ticket for the $32 50/50. He
donated $12 back to the Cruise-In. Thank you.
The $10 "Cruise-A-Matic" would have gone home with
Edna Adams, Cruiser #41, if she would have come out tonight. Next week
$20 will be in the offering.
"Cruiser of the Week" went home in a Yellow '77 deVille with Steve
Clarke, Cruiser #5.
Bob, thank you for pointing out that typo in the
advertisement on the back page. I really do appreciate it.
