Dave was already at the "Square" with his car, he had to wait a bit for
"Mustang Mike" to arrive so that he could park in his place of honor.
Linda & I arrived as Mike was positioning the DJ Rig. Don was next to
arrive in his daily driver with photos of the new red paint on the
Corvair he is restoring. Ed & Sarah rolled the '70 "Shortbox" Chevy into
the "Square" next. Chris was there to greet them. "Scary Larry" was the
next to arrive in his Mustang. Ron took a spot next to the "Shortbox"
for his '61 Caddy. Louie parked his '52 Customline next to him. Dick
then took the next spot in the front line in his 2+2 Mustang. It wasn't
until after 6:00 that the "Wookie" in his Mustang and Andy in his
deVille would arrive and take the spot vacated by Dave after he moved
the VW/Anglia in front of the trailer. Harry came out in his daily
driver. Curt came out in his '48 GMC pickup. Roy backed his Galaxy in
next to Don's daily driver. Don R, looking for a car came out in his
pickup. Just about 6:30 Bert & "Ernie" would bring the '66 Comet wagon
out. Paul, without his DeSoto, would stop by with some spec's for Louie
and stay for the drawings.
We all had been listening or watching the latest news
from NASA. They were ready to "Endeavour" into space once again tonight.
STS118 would lift off flawlessly right as scheduled at 6:36PM EDT. I
listened to the details of the launch over Ted's, KE4TTE, Amateur Radio
Repeater, we all would watch it head for space while "Mustang mike"
played "Telstar". It is great that we live so close to the "Space
coast", to be able to watch the launches from some 60 miles away and
still enjoy our "Cruise-In".
Then of course, just after 7:00 George would roll his
heirloom '61 Falcon into the parking lot. If the music is too loud or
too quite please let Mike know, just walk up to the window and talk to
him. He is happy to make any adjustments or play requests.
Harry Di Martino, Cruiser #140, held the winning
ticket for the $37 50/50. He donated all but $3 back to next weeks
Cruise-In, Thanks Harry!
The $20 Cruise-A-Matic" would have gone home with
Randy Scott, Cruiser #191, if he would have come out tonight. Next week
there is $30 In the offering.
This weeks "Cruiser of the Week" went home with Roy Fitz, Cruiser #174,
in his '64 Ford Galaxie convertible.
As usual the Robertson family made us feel at home,
it was in the upper 90's today and really didn't cool off until after
the event. The staff at "Bites" fed most of the group tonight, thank you
for the good service.
On to the Photos...after this
