"Duke" Davis' Wednesday Nite Cruise-In
Brought to you by Saint Cloud "Bites"
at "Magnolia Square"

East Highway 192
Saint Cloud, Florida

In Memory of C. "Duke" Davis

August 29th

Tonight winds up another month at the "Square". Started in June of 2005 by "Duke Davis" we continue to bring the cars out on a Wednesday Nite. Linda and I would be a little later than normal as we were working today. "Mustang Mike" was already set up in his spot. "Scary Larry" had his Mustang in the area to the East of the DJ rig. It was just before 5:00 when we had to back our little Corvair into a spot that was 5 to the West of the Patio. All of the other prime "Cruiser" spots were taken up by people visiting "Crush". It wasn't until after 5:15 that the '70 "Shortbox" Chevy Pickup with Ed & Sarah backed into a spot just behind the DJ rig. Ron H then arrived a little later in his '53 Chevy, after the big black 4x4 burned out of the "Square" running the stop sign at Jaffa Drive, nearly hitting another pickup headed North. I'm just glad that the "Cruisers" do not exhibit such behavior. The behavior of the patrons of "Crush" continued like this all night. Trying to park in areas that were coned off for "Cruisers", they would slam their vehicles in to reverse and squeal the tires in reverse, then park in spots that were open to the East. Maybe it was the eclipse the other night still taking effect on these people or I guess they just don't like us. Funny thing, except for a few Rainouts, this event has been going on for over 2 years, every Wednesday Nite. I just had to get that off my chest. This area is too small for that kind of conduct, something needs to be done. Now on to who was out tonight.

John snuck his big Caddy into it's place of honor when I wasn't looking, Louie came out in his daily driver. Dick came out in his 2+2,  Ron A parked his '61 Caddy convertible just where he likes it. Nick & Fran rolled the 5 Window coupe into the lot, followed by Bob in his '68 Chevelle, they parked on either side of our Corvair, poor thing so intimated by all that horsepower. Andy was next to park "Up Front". The "Wookie" in his "Heartbreaker" parked across from him in the Handicapped spot to the East of the Patio. Roy arrived in his '64 Ford, he pulled into a spot next to Nick. Tom & Diane would park their Model A pickup next to the '53 Chevy. Al then would chug his Model A Tudor in and park next to them. Steve was out, without the "77 deVille. Then George would arrive in his "Heirloom Falcon", we all knew that it would soon be time for the drawings.

Al Wendling was the holder of the winning 50/50 ticket. He would take home the $32.

Ol' Number 9. "Lucky Louie" was the winner of the $55 "Cruise-A-Matic". Next week we start over at $10.

"Cruiser of the Week" went home in a '79 deVille, Cruiser # 6, Andy Billitteri.

Despite the rudeness, they seemed to enjoy the cars, while setting out front of the "Crush", we all, the "Cruisers", made the best out of the night, as we always do when we get together and had a good time. The gang at "Bites" fed most of the "Cruisers" and thank you to the Robertson's for having us out.

Did I mention? The weather was great, Warm and breezy.

On to the Photos...after this
