"Duke" Davis' Wednesday Nite Cruise-In
Brought to you by Saint Cloud "Bites"
at "Magnolia Square"

East Highway 192
Saint Cloud, Florida

In Memory of C. "Duke" Davis

June 20th

We did the unforgivable, "Arrived Late" at 5:30, the lot was empty of Cruisers. "Mustang Mike" had told us that he too was running late. Bob in his '68 Chevelle and Nick in his '32 Coupe followed us in. First Cruise for it since he got it back on the road last night! WOW, it sounded good and strong. Looked even better! Not only did he have the engine gone through completely there were some "Beefy" chrome valve covers and new Aluminum heads added along with more chrome detail. Nick said it will be a while before he re paints the car, most of us agreed that no one sees the car, just that beautiful shinny "Big Block". Ashley and Daniel, spending their summer with Nick & Fran came along as well, they have become "regulars", sort of a bit of comic relief. Oh, to have that much energy. Louie arrived in his '52 Ford in time to purchase some stamps before the Post Office Closed at 6:00. Carol, the Post Office Lady, had a tale of the tremendous lightning, thunder and rain she experienced on her way and at home 2 weeks ago.

By now the Hazy sky was dissolved by the Sunshine and clear skies. Al then putted the old Model A into it's parking spot. The Wookie arrived in the "Heart Breaker". Grady from A&B Machine and Performance Inc, the shop that did the mill work on Nick's Big Block stopped to see it in the car. Dwayne from A&B would stop by a little later. Kevin showed up in his daily driver. Steve & Charlie were in the deVille. Jim would park his GTO across from Al. Andy parked his Caddy next to the "Wookie". George, in his '61 Falcon even arrived before Ron did in his Caddy.

Mike was unable to make the Cruise-In after getting home late, musta been something he ate for lunch. It was the largest Non Cruise, Cruise-In, we have had, 14 cars came out. The 50/50 or Cruise-A-Matic drawings were not held. Chris Robertson did award the "Cruiser of the Week" to Clay Lamb, Cruiser #210 in his '59 Vette. He has owned this car for more than 30 years. He has promised me the details of the ups and downs of getting this car the way it is today.

It was sometime just before 8:00 that "Doc" powered Sue's Pro Street, Charger past us on 192 and turned down Jaffa Court to his new Shop. Nick, Bob and we stopped to check it out.
