May 30th
It was a bit windy but what a night for a
Cruise-In at "Bites". Last week we all decided to make sure at least one
other Cruiser came out to the "Square" this week. Linda & I arrived Just
after 4:00 with "Mustang Mike" pulling into the DJ spot just after 4:30.
It seemed at first that tonight could be a bust like last week. No Paul,
he is usually waiting for Linda & me. Dick arrived on his Harley, just
before 5:00, his 2+2 is still overheating but he don't like to miss a
Cruise. Louie was next to bring out a car, tonight he was in his
favorite '52 Ford. Dan was then spotted driving the "Grinster" in a line
up with a '59 T-Bird with Kevin at the wheel and Walt in the passenger
seat. Jeff was in his '59 Edsel Ranger. Harry was spotted driving what
seemed to be a bumper for a '50 Ford, that was it just the bumper. Oh,
wait he was delivering it to Louie. Roger rode out with him in the daily
driver. O.K. it was now going to be a good Cruise-In we had 15 cars
before 6:00. The Music was playing, spectators were stopping by. "Bites"
was keeping up with the food orders.
Others seen out tonight
were Nick, Fran & the grandkids in the daily driver. Tom & Diane in the
'31 Ford Pickup, Al was even out very early in his Model A. Roy Fitz in
his Infiniti, Richard F in his Delux Model A. The "Wookie" in his Mustang, Andy in his Caddy and Steve
and Charlie in the '77 deVille were out before 6:00, Thanks guys! Tony &
Sharon even made an appearance, in "Sunny" the Corvair, he got out early
for once on a Wednesday! Might not happen again for a while but we were
all glad to see them. Jim was out in the GTO. Bob had his '68 SS out
tonight. Later Nick & Fran's grandkids rode home with him. George of
course was the last to arrive in his '61 Falcon. Sure hope I didn't miss
anyone. It was great to have a bit of a crowd on a Wednesday. James &
Stacy registered for both this Cruise - In and Thursday nights. They and
the '70 Chevelle SS 396 will be a welcome addition to our Cruise-In's.
The winning ticket for
the 50/50 of $40 was in the hands of Al Wendling, Cruiser #89.
This week we had 2
drawings for the "Cruise-A-Matic" to make up for the night that "Jalopy
Jim" didn't have the numbers with him. The first was for $50. Dave Meal,
Cruiser #178 wasn't out so it rolled to $60. Bill Khoenle, Cruiser # 52,
wasn't out so next week there is $70 in the offering.
"Cruiser of the Week" went home in a 1959 Edsel with Jeff Cocking,
Cruiser #137.
As usual we were made to feel like
guests by the Robertson's, Brittany and Danielle, the smiling, efficient
and friendly "Bites" staff. Thank you for having
us out again.
On to the photos.....
