May 23rd
A lack of interest I guess. Paul was there
about 5:15 in his daily driver, Dick on his motorcycle, the Mustang
keeps overheating. Jaime drove the first car, his '67 AC Cobra, in at
about 5:30. I had arrived without Linda, she had to work, in "Elvira"
our '60 Ranchero around 4:00. "Mustang Mike" brought the DJ rig in about
4:30. Ron rolled his Caddy into the spot he likes about 5:33. Mike was
hoping for a few more cars to show up before starting the music. It
wasn't until after 6:30 that the next car came in, Al chugged the Model
A into the lot and parked next to me. Mike was about to call the
Cruise-In and head for home. Then a few minutes later The "Wookie" in
the Buick, Andy in his Caddy, Steve & Charlie in their deVille and Curt
in his Chevy Pickup arrived. Then just before 7:00 Roger & Harry along
with Dave, regular spectators/Cruisers between cars arrived. Louie
brought out his '50 Ford about 6:45 and George in his '61 Falcon about 5
minutes later.
By now it was too late
to set up. We all gathered on the veranda and talked about how we might
get the number of cars up. Have a few more arrive a bit earlier or
something. WE don't want to loose this venue, Chris would like us to
keep the Cruise-In going, they only have "Bites" open past 5:00 on
Wednesday Nites to accommodate our Cruise and the spectators that we
attract. I know it was windy, I know the love bugs are out. We can have
many excuses for not Cruising in. If we don't start coming out, we won't
have this one to go to. Let's keep it going in memory of it's original
promoter, our late friend "Duke" Davis.
"BITES"
CRUISE-IN, AT THE "SQUARE" 5:00 to 8:00PM EVERY WEDNESDAY NITE. THE
"CRUSH", Cigar and Wine Bar, IS OPEN DURING THE CRUISE - POOL TABLES.
COME ON OUT OR WE COULD LOOSE THIS ONE!
I think the only thing
we resolved was that each one of us that was out tonight needs to ask
another cruiser that we know to join us on a Wednesday Nite. With more
than 125 cars registered, you would think we could get a few more to
come out. Mike would like any suggestions from you, the Cruisers to make
this weekly event better. It already has one of the biggest 50/50's for
a small Cruise, just think if we had more cars and spectators!
No 50/50 or prizes
awarded. No "Cruiser of the Week" chosen or "Cruise-A-Matic" drawn.
On to the photos.....
after this.
