"Duke" Davis' Wednesday Nite Cruise-In
Brought to you by Saint Cloud "Bites"
at "Magnolia Square"

East Highway 192

In Memory of C. "Duke" Davis

May 9th

Subtropical Storm Andrea, this is only the 9th of May, now more than 220 brush fires in Florida with High Winds. I am sure this will stop many of our "Cruisers" from coming out tonight. The one thing we can not do anything about. The Weather. Linda & I arrived about 4:15, "Mustang Mike" called me a bit earlier and said that "Jalopy Jim" would be filling in for him tonight. He had to work all night to get a project done that he was working on. Greg was waiting for us in his Camaro. Roger was the next to arrive in his daily driver, Dan Z. rolled into the lot with his little red Corvair convertible, I know, not like one of his usual rides. Jim didn't get to the lot until about 5:15, his van is in the shop, so Karen had to drop him and the equipment off. Ron, the "Birthday Boy", he celebrated his own personal "Diamond Jubilee" yesterday, rolled his '61 Caddy and parked next to the DJ set up. Ron H. arrived in his '53 Chevy just before Bob turned the Chevelle into the lot. Nick was with him. Nick, still waiting for the re-build on the engine, had a few medical procedures earlier in the week, was out, looking and feeling good. Roy brought out his Infinity. About that time, Fred, our bi-annual regular spectator came to join us. Louie came in his '52 Ford followed by, wait, was that really the "Wookie" in his Buick? Yes it was, AJ rode with him to help point out things that needed to be done to the car. Andy was right behind them in his deVille, Charlie rode along with him, guess Steve must be working on the '77 deVille. Al was the next to arrive, he and Aggie had been out of town for a bit. His Model A was sporting a new Carburetor. It seemed like we all waited for Al to buy his tickets before any of us did, it just happened that way. Mike, a soon to be Cruiser, stopped by in his '68 Fairlane 500 2 door hardtop, you just don't see many of those. He should be joining up with us next week. Paul came out in his daily driver, he sure looked lost without the DeSoto. He had been at Tommy's making sure the movers took what they should. Karen left Jim to set up, she then  went to pick up daughter, Jamie. They both stayed the rest of the Cruise-In.

Bob Berube, Cruiser #8, had the winning ticket for the $30, 50/50, he donated a bit of the proceeds to this newsletter, Thank You.

Jim didn't have the bucket for the "Cruise-A-Matic" so next week we draw twice, first time is worth $50, if no winner the second time it is worth $60. If there is a winner for the first drawing the second will be worth $10.

"Cruiser of the Week" went home with Eddie Flames, the "Wookie" Cruiser #10, in his '65 Buick.

Yes, George made it out, did you think I would forget that? He arrived about 7:15 in his '61 Falcon so it was 13 cars that Cruised in.

As usual we were made to feel like guests by the Robertson's, Brittany and Danielle, the smiling, efficient and friendly "Bites" staff. Thank you for having us out again.

By the way, the weather was beautiful!

I was a little later than normal getting tonight's story posted on the Internet. We had a surprise visit from son, Steven, daughter-in-law, Carrie, along with grandchildren, Caitie,  Connor and Sara. Just about the time we got home. They took a quick vacation trip from Denver. A total surprise on us.

On to a few photos..... after this.
