March 14th
With this being the first Cruise-In since
the clocks sprang ahead and the day having normal temps for this time of
the year the event we were headed for a little early should be a good
sized one, maybe a few more late arrivals than normal due to the longer
daylight. We arrived in our '60 Ranchero a little early because we
headed for Saint Cloud to stop by the Insurance agent and the tag office
to take care of the daily driver we just acquired.
We arrived just after 4:00 and were
greeted by Chris, our host. Sue from "Bites", had Irish Stew on the menu
for Saint Patrick's Day. Brittany would be making "Shamrock Shakes".
Jack arrived in "ol' Yeller" his '29 Model A a few minutes later. Paul
then backed his DeSoto into it's normal spot. Bill then would park his
Blazer next to him. Dick had his Mustang back out tonight. Dan would
then park his '41 Willys pick up in the "Cruiser of the Week" spot in
front of the trailer. Ron Adamson would maneuver the '62 Caddy right
behind the trailer next to Louie in his '52 Ford. Don would have his red
2+2 on the other side. Roger H. would then park his '48 Chevy pickup
next to Jack. Ron H. had his Model A up in the front row. Nick, just
recovering from some surgery, and Francine parked in the spot they
usually occupy. Ted placed his Blue '39 Chevy pickup next to them. Bobby
was out in his daily driver, currently between "Cruisers". Bob B rolled
his '68 Chevelle in the lot and parked across from Nick. Charlie was
there, sans Steve and the Cadillac. Jim parked his GTO in front of the
Robertson's office. Dana was out to give Mike a hard time, as was Roger
in his daily driver. Then the "Wookie: and Andy would arrive in their
Cruisers followed by Al that parked his Model A near Ron H's. Greg
barely beat Bert & "Ernie" in his Camaro followed in by Roy in his '56
Chevy. Last but not least, George rolled his '61 Falcon into the lot
about 7:00.
How many Old Guys does it take to change a
bypass hose on a 289? It looked as though 4, one with tools, 2 others to
assist the oldest that did the work!
It was a good turn out of these friends
that make their way out each week to the East Side of Saint Cloud for
this "Cruisers Cruise" a chance for everyone to really get to know one
another.
At 7:45 "Mustang Mike" played the National
Anthem and started the drawings right after announcing the
"Cruiser of the Week". Ron Hendron, #124, with his Customized Orange '48
Chevy pickup. The winning 50/50 ticket for the $52 was Jim Rouse,
#209. He donated $10 to this newsletter, Thank You. Now if Jim & Shirley
Crawford, #82, would have been out tonight they would have gone home
with the "Cruise-A-Matic" of $10. Thanks to them the offering gets to
grow a little.
Thank You to the Robertson's and "Bites"
for letting us be their guests. Thank you to all of our fellow Cruisers
for another good time at the "Square".
On to a few photos.....
