"Duke" Davis' Wednesday Nite Cruise-In
Brought to you by Saint Cloud "Bites"
at "Magnolia Square"

East Highway 192
Saint Cloud, Florida

In Memory of C. "Duke" Davis

February 28th

What another great day here in Central Florida, Wednesday meant it was another trip to "Magnolia Square" for a Cruise-In. We arrived a little early, I guess the traffic was lighter than anticipated. Chris had Mike's parking spot almost blocked. The "Square" was bustling with activity. The Robertson's were making ready a unit for some new tenants and another was moving out. The new owners of the "Crush" seem adamant about parking in spaces that have always been used for the "Cruise-In". I understand they are right in front of their establishment, then again I was taught not to park in front of where I worked. It is usually reserved for patrons. I guess our display of cars isn't a very high priority for them. Maybe one night a week for something that has been going on for nearly 2 years is too bothersome for them to encourage Cruisers into their establishment instead of alienating them completely. Oh, well, I guess we have to put up with it. They are their parking spots. If they do not want the Cruisers to park there, cone them off and let no one park there, the 2 Newer cars deflect from the event which is finally becoming more popular.

Paul in the DeSoto was the first Cruiser to arrive and park next to our Ranchero. Dick came in in his 2+2 shortly after. Then Larry in a daily driver, he will be going back to North Carolina soon. "Big John" was out in the red Cobra Convertible. Bob would park next to him a little later in the '41 Buick then Curt in his GMC next to him. Steve & Charlie in the yellow deVille were the first to park East of the DJ rig then Ron in his Caddy. Tom in his 8 door Greenbrier to the West. Louie in his '52 Ford along with Don in his red 2+2 Mustang joined the front row. Nick brought along an old friend from up North in the '32 Ford Hiboy, Bob was in his Chevelle. Bill pulled his Blazer in to a spot down from us, just beyond a "Crush" car. The "Mustang Twins" came out in both cars tonight, Betty is in need of a straighter passenger rear axel. Andy then arrived in his '79 deVille and parked in the other vacated "Crush" spot just about 6:45. The "Wookie" was in his Expedition, the "Heartbreaker" stopped on him last Sunday on the way home. Roy was out in a daily driver, he had a busy day and couldn't get home to get the '56 Chevy without missing the whole Cruise. Roger was out again in a daily driver, hasn't had a Cruiser in a while. Al rolled the old Model A and parked near Bert & Ernie's Pickup. Then of course last but not least George came in his Falcon, just before the drawings. Linda's knitting didn't even make out of the bag tonight, she was having too much fun with "Big John's" version of the "The Easy Button" and she would like to say a special Thank You to Brittany for saving that bowl of soup for her.

The 50/50 of $48.00 was accepted by Paul for the "Wookie" that had to go home early. The $20.00 "Cruise-A-Matic" would have gone home in Hank Horn's Baja Bug if he would have been out.

"Cruiser of the Week" went to Bill & Martie Khoenle, #52, in their '81 Blazer.

On to a few photos..... after this.
