Saint Cloud Friday Nite Live 9-8

Saint Cloud Friday Nite Live presented by Saint Cloud's Main Street Project's monthly charity event was the setting for this little car show. "Mustang Mike" was asked if a few of the Thursday bunch would come out and set a display. There were plenty of door prizes given out courtesy of Auto Zone, Whistle Stop, Caravel Ice Cream shop, Beef O'Brady's and Action Gator Tire. There was a 50/50 that would net the winning ticket holder $60.

Pennsylvania Avenue was lined with Vendors, on 11th Street was a stage set up for the night's entertainment and plenty of people to make the night a fun place to be. We had 20 cars with a few that were not regulars with us, Welcome! It is always good to go Downtown on a Friday night. Annual visitors from Scotland, Bob & Barb, that always try and make the Cruises that we are involved in came out even though they were still jet lagging plus the fact that they had gone on a Hot Air Balloon Ride at 4:00AM. They even stopped to see us last night but that was a rain out. Good to see you two back in Sunny Florida.

Most of the cars were in place by 6:30, ranging from a T-Bucket to an originally restored Model A. 3 four foot trophies were in the offering for "Best Paint", " Best Daily Driver" and "Best Engine" display. Even with only 20 cars the competition was stiff in all categories.

Just before 9:00 the drawings were held, the trophies went to Gary Thompson and his '55 Chevy for "Best Paint". Don Rancourt's '66 Mustang 2+2 took home "Best Engine". Tony DeBlasio's '69 Ranchero, "Lucy", took home "Best Daily Driver". George Crofut had the winning ticket for the 50/50. At 9:00 the presentations of the Trophies by "Mustang Mike" were in front of the main stage during a "Cruise" by.

It was a nice evening with friends in a friendly little Downtown. I am sure we will do it again.

Here are a few photos.

On the way home our Daily Driver, the '60 Ranchero, "Elvira", must have been mad that she didn't get the big trophy, she overheated and we had to be rescued by Tony, K4AVD, in "Lucy". There were other offers by Amateur Radio friends N4HHA and KG4BFJ to come to our aid as well, Thanks guys. These old cars have minds of their own sometimes. We cooled her down and put water back in and made it home, she will now be in "Time Out" until we figure out why she really overheated.

Congratulations to the winners and Thank You to Saint Cloud's Main Street Project for inviting us out.

See you "Out There"
