Florida Antique and Classic Automobile Cruisers Association
May 7th
Sharon and I met Gary and Wanda at the McDonalds on the
corner of Osceola Parkway and Michigan about 7:30 am to take a nice
cruise up to our first trip to what turned out to be a HUGE swap meet at
the Sumter County Fairgrounds. Gary and Wanda had been there before and
were nice enough to invite us along. We had Gary in the lead, and yes,
everyone knows why.
We arrived about 9am and entered the show with about 65 or so others,
parked and started our 4-1/2 hour walk around every car part you could
ever think of in every stage of usefulness. We picked up a few odds and
ends and trinkets. Gary was driving his little electric cart down a
pathway when Big John came cruising thru on HIS souped up electric
scooter at twice Gary's speed !!!! We also came across Dan and Liz out
seeing what was available.
Other than the burning sun and NO SHADE it was an interesting long walk.
At 2pm they had the trophy presentation, Gary and I were honored with a
top 30 plaque !!!!!
We left shortly after for our trip home, Lucy (our Ranchero) asked if
next time we could do this one in a cooler month, as she was feeling a
little on the hot side on the trip home.
