February 12th
"Run to Aventureland Car Show"

Sunday, February, 12th a few members braved the arctic winds and made their way to the Car Show at Aventureland, near Inverness sponsored by the Nature Coast Corvair Club. Linda and I didn't make the trip, still not feeling well enough to be out in the cold. Tony DeBlasio wrote the following about the "Run".

We met Steve McCullough in the Ranchero, Gary and Wanda in their other Chevy (not the show one), Craig and Mary (pres of the GoVairs) and newcomers Chester and Nancy Tibbets in their red Corvair at the Wally World about 7:45, we then left to meet. Padgett at Turkey lake plaza. Met him and went up the road, nice trip, no cattle trucks. Ed and Evelyn were waiting for us when we got there. Adventure land turned out to be a golf driving range, very open and very windy!!!! Most everyone stayed in the clubhouse for the better part of the day while the judges were doing their thing.

We met the Nature Coast Corvair Club members that put on the show, and Ed was right, they are all very nice people. Ed and Evelyn can be very proud of being a part of this club.

I'd say there were close to 100 cars that braved the cold. There was a variety of nice cars, and many very good looking Corvairs, including a front engine (V-8) yellow Corvair coupe all decked out for the raceway!!!

It was a very organized event, well thought out day, including a Chinese auction and everyone won at least one door prize. Due to the cold, they started the trophy presentations early. All six of us that went up today won top 50 trophies, Even Steve who always says he never wins anything!!!!

I must have had a blind, very big hearted judge, neither Sharon or I could believe our ears when they announced us and the 69 Ranchero!!!!

Our trip back was also very good, and we made good time thanks to a 30
mph bitter cold tailwind!!!!!

Let's hope next year is not so cold! We would like to do this again.
See you all Wednesday Nite..
Tony

Here are a few photos that I took during the event.
