The Saturday Nite Cruise®
Established in 1990
Rain or Shine, 52 Weeks a year!
Old Town Shopping Attraction.
East Highway 192
Saint Cloud, Florida

September 30th

Cooler weather sure brings more Cruisers to the Saturday event at Old Town. Speaking of cooler air, there were over two dozen of Chevrolet's Air-Cooled Corvairs on "Trophy Row". This was the 3rd Annual "Corvair Family Reunion". A three day event put on by the "GoVairs". Looked like a successful event here on day 2.

When we arrived, just after 2:00. "Trophy Row" was heavily populated. Not having many of our regulars with us we still made our way to block 4, took the spot we usually occupy behind Black Hill's Minerals, there were a couple of dozen spots conned off for the Corvair event on the East Side. The participants were over at the Comfort Suites for the afternoons events, they would be moving over around 4:30.

It was very nice to see many of the regulars in their spots as we walked up to "Flippers" for dinner. Tony & Sharon joined us just after Bill & Doris stopped by. "Lucy " is still giving them fits with her blinkers. After our meal and service that we have become accustomed to we made our way back to our car. Along the way we managed to even greet more of the "Regulars" as they made their way in. "Big John" had the Beach Cruiser Greenbrier parked at the turn by the Cruise office. Louie & Linda had the Tiki-Wagon parked up by Dave & Arlene. Joe was back tooling around in his cart. Welcome back Joe!

Bob got his '36 Ford Humpback on the road for the first time in months, just finished it today. So, we had all of the "3 Stooges" in their cars. Ron in his Corvair and John in the Mustang. Tony & Marlene came out in "Cletus" and parked between us and the steps. John & Angel finally have another car! A '62 Ford Fairlane 500, congratulations on the new car. Bert & "Ernie, after 2 disastrous attempts to get to Indiana, decided to spend the rest of her vacation at home.

For some reason the spectator crowd seemed larger than normal, well it was a busy night, more than 300 cars were awaiting the distribution of the "Checkered Flags" at 8:15 as Mr. Bill led the Cruiser of the month down to Block 4, directing "Corvair Family Reunion" participants to fall in behind him. Then the cars from the top 3 blocks would pass by us before we would Cruise. On time at 8:30 Mike Singer did the safety announcements, played the Nation Anthem and the 849th running of the "Saturday Nite Cruise©" made it's way around "Kids Town" on to "Deac Hundley Blvd." to a cheering crowd lined more than 4 deep along the side walks and boulevard.

What another great day in "Town", Thanks to all that made it this way especially Old Town for having all of us and our "Stars" each and every week. Thank You to our fellow Cruisers that have become our friends and family over the years and to the "Cruise Staff", Richard, Mr. Bill, Joe and Miss Lisa to mention just a few, for directing the Chaos that can result when you mix that many people with these great examples of "Rolling Automotive History".

On to the "Flag Winners"

Tonight's random drawing winners that and received the coveted "Old Town Checkered Flag" along with $25 cash, A Case of Oil from NAPA and a drink from the Tropical Breeze.

Congratulations to the Checkered Flag Winners!
