November 4th
Our first Cruise of November, The Cadillac
Forum was due to be in Town as well as the Treasure Coast Cruisers Car
Club. It was a perfect Fall day, a bit breezy though.
We arrived at our normal time, Tony
& Sharon had out Steve Mc's '27 Model T "Grinster". "Lucy" still isn't
ready to come out. Brat signed us in, Gary and Cathy were helping her
out. As we made our way around the corner past the Old Town Bull on to
"Trophy Row" where many of the regulars had already parked.
There were already many spectators out to
see the cars, the town was bustling with activity. There were even some
cars that still had Halloween Candy for the kids. After we parked in our
regular spots, Linda & I went to deliver the newsletters and catch up on
what was going on in Town. Ralph & Shirley were already camped out under
the stairs by the Main Stage. We all were saddened by the news of Rutha
Taylor's (Sarge) passing. She
was a regular and a former Staff member. The "Looney Bin" was 2/5's
occupied, Larry & Butch were in place. The "Red Line Rodders" along with
the "Rat Pack" were out in full force and there were some great vintage
Caddy's scattered about.
Gary & Wanda rolled in while we were
out, and Tony our "Official Lunch Timer", kept us on track. We headed
out to Flippers for our meal and visited on the way with others that
made their way to the "Bricks". Jane took great care of us. While we
were eating a few of the Cruisers including Joe's Ford brought part of a
Wedding Party, to the "Party Suite" across the street from Flippers and
Fred Marion's', followed by Daryl's '57 Chevy carrying more of them then
Dave in the Mercedes carrying the Bride followed up by Gary in the
Fairlane with the last of the wedding party. This is always great to see
and Old Town keeps this facility quite busy, It's a great place for any
event. As usual we walked back from the top as the stream of cars came
rolling in after the 5:00 gate opening.
Bob & Marge in the Orange Chevelle
parked across from us, "Doc" had the old "Tater Truck" out with it's new
supercharger on it. Neil & Elaine parked the little red Triumph next to
the stairs where Don & Lenore squeeze the Metropolitan in.
7:00PM brought "VIVA" to the Main Stage and
"The Dukes" to
the patio in front of Fred Marion's Sports Grill for the night's
entertainment.
Some of the more unusual cars that
came out today included a great '57 Lincoln, A Black Pearl Hot Rod. A
Willys Knight and a fantastic LaSalle. Old Town is the best show in
Town, there are many like us that come out every week and it always
amazes me to see new cars join in, just about every week.
Right on time at 8:15, the Checkered Flags
were distributed to the winners and at 8:15 Richard led Trish Cain,
Cruiser of the Month" in her '64 GTO followed by the Treasure Coast
group to the staging area, that block 4 becomes at this time, to get
nearly 300 cars ready to round that corner at "Kids Town" for this the
854th "Saturday Nite Cruise©". After a few Safety Announcements, given
by Mike Singer, The voice of Old Town Radio, the playing of the National
Anthem and Wolfman Jack proclaiming "It's the Saturday Nite Cruise",
the cars started to roll past Richard, our Cruise Director then on to
"Deac Hundley Blvd." to a very large crowd of cheering spectators.
Thank You to Old Town, the merchants
of Old Town, the Cruise sponsors, the Cruise Staff, that keep us all
safe and to our fellow Cruisers that drive these "Stars" for another
great night "In Town".
Tonight's random drawing winners that and received the coveted "Old Town
Checkered Flag" along with $25 cash, A Case of Oil from NAPA and a drink from the
Tropical Breeze.
Congratulations to the Checkered Flag Winners!
