May 13th
Today we decided to head out Hwy 192 instead of
taking the Parkway, the construction has been competed for a few weeks. Linda &
I, in the Corvair Coupe, met up with Tony & Sharon in their Ranchero a little
closer to their house. The drive wasn't too bad. It didn't take much longer then
the back way. We arrived on the "Bricks" just before 2:00PM. No special events
for today. "trophy Row" had many cars in place by the time we rolled down to our
"Spot" behind "Black Hills Minerals". Paul & Betty were going to join us before
4:00 and Neil & Elaine after 5:00.
During our rounds to deliver the newsletters we stopped to chat
with all the "Regulars" that were out. The "Rat Pack" part of the "Red Line
Rodders" were in place next to John's "Double Nickel". Bob & Marge had the '40
Buick out. Ralph & Shirley were camped by the stage, The Olsen's had their
yellow Pickup right next to the stage. Cris & Larry, Stephanie & Butch were in
their regular spot. Jack & Gabe had the GTO in Block 3 next to Juan's Camaro.
Roger was sporting a Red 56 Chevy pickup that he bought just last Sunday. Bill
was back from a trip to Illinois and had his '55 Chevy out. Gary & Kathy were
right by Florida Plaza, Jack and Donna joined in a bit later with a MOPAR? Hmmmm,
maybe we wall see them out more often now? Bill & Doris stopped by for a visit.
It was time to eat, We headed off for Flippers. Then I got a call
from some friends that just moved back t o Florida from South Carolina. Charley
& Nina then joined us for lunch. Brandy was back and once again she did a great
job taking care of us. On our way back we saw John B., Joe Rodhouse, first time
back since his surgery. Getting around pretty good, still with cane but looked
more comfortable, Welcome Back Joe! Ron Simons brought out his '37 for the first
time in a while. Dan & Liz were in the '47. Neil & Elaine brought out both cars
tonight.
"The Dukes" set up at 7:00 on the corner by the A&W to entertain.
"Old Town Radio" was playing it's usual mix, the new speakers behind Kids Town
were cranked up.
By parade time 254 cars made it to this weekly event. Right on
time they all started to roll down the West Side of "Deac Hundley Blvd" to a
very large crowd of spectators. Once again a great night with good friends.
Thank You to the Merchants of Old Town, The "Saturday Nite Cruise "©
sponsors, the Cruise Staff and the owners of these cars that come out every
week.
