March 4th
Nostalgic Nova's were occupying much of
Block 4 all day long. Just about any color or year of this Chevy model
could be seen. From pure stock to radically modified Customs and
Pro-Street versions. Always a great display of this second edition
Chevrolet. Today, much like a few weeks ago, the top 2 blocks of "Trophy
Row" were saved from the "Special Event" for the "Regulars" in fact the
top 3 were not used by the "Nostalgic Nova's". This is real nice that
many of the Cruisers got to get in their spots. We were unable to get
our "home" in Block 4 so we substituted Block 1, right up by Ben
Franklin.
Steve followed us out in his '62 Ranchero, we are still
looking for a transmission for her. Ed & Evelyn joined us a little while
later as did Trevor, Bill & Virginia. Gary & Wanda are still awaiting
the new paint on "Remember When". It won't be long now and we will see
that '55 Chevy out. Mike & Carol arrived in the '54 Hudson, haven't seen
them in a while. I guess all this moving stuff is cutting into their
time. They will be missed once they finish the move to Tennessee. Tony &
Sharon visited "Lucy" their Ranchero that is in the hands of Don for her
new coat, before joining in with us.
The spectator crowd was extremely large tonight. It was
just a sea of people on "Trophy Row". Mike Singer played his usual mix
on Old Town Radio, The "3-D Band" rocked the main stage. Bob Nagro ended
up in the back 40 with his '36 Humpback. Louie and Philip parked behind
the Roller Coaster. So we were kind of split up tonight. Tom & Bob from
the "Drop Your Top" gang made it over early. Their Club has a big show
coming up in April. Watch the pages of this newsletter for details.
Craig S. the president of the "GoVairs"
made it out tonight as did jack and Betty with their Roadster.
Several Car Clubs from out of state were also mixed in with
us tonight. From Ohio & Michigan were the ones that I noticed. Just a
big crowd of "Friends" and the great cars that they drive.
Right on time at 8:30 nearly 350 of these cars made it
around "Kids Town" for yet another running of "The Saturday Nite
Cruise®" up "Deac Hundley Blvd." Thanks to the Merchants of Old Town and all of the sponsors
for having us all in town. A special Thanks to the "Cruise Staff" for
another fun and safe nite.Tonight's
random drawing winners that and received the coveted "Old Town Checkered Flag"
along with $25 cash, $15 "Cruiser Cash" and a drink from the
Tropical Breeze.
Congratulations to the Checkered Flag Winners!
