"Mustang Mike's"
Saint Cloud Thursday Nite Cruise-In

In the Wal-Mart Parking Lot
Next to the Sonic Drive-In
Saint Cloud, Florida

March 11th

Just another picture perfect day to go to Old Town, spend the day. Nearly 30 Edsels were lined up on "Deac Hundley Blvd.". We arrived at our usual parking spot right at 2:00, the Edsels had been on the streets since early morning. It is just to bad that his car really never caught on. Linda and I started out on our rounds to drop off the newsletters a little early, Bill & Trevor are to join us a little later. Ed & Evelyn and Gary & Wanda were coming a little before 4:00. We ran into many of the regulars and many "Snowbirds" in the spots that they were comfortable in. What a great day to be outside.

Even with so many other events going on in central Florida it looked like tonight was going to go over the 300 car mark once again. We decided that we were not going to "Parade" tonight. the ld Corvair was making yet a few new sounds. We have the Throw Out bearing in the glove box just waiting for the right time to install it. Now it seems that the transmission might be failing. Geeze, we still don't have the tranny in the Ranchero! Tony is coming over tomorrow to help install it. Oh well, this is a small price to pay to be piloting around some of this American History.

Mike Singer was playing his usual mix on Old Town Radio, "Still Kickin" was due on the Main Stage at 7:00 and "The Dukes" were going to be set up on the corner by the A&W. The spectator crowd was growing quite large, very early as the day continued. I did a little work on the Corvair, Ed thought the Tans axel might be low on 90 weight. It was, it is a real Pain in the.... to climb under a car that is only 5" off the ground. Bob N, that I had called a little earlier, came out with a quart of the lubricant. After  many colorful metaphors and a very dirty shirt and the assistance of fellow Cruisers, supervising,  The job was done. Linda and I decided that after the cars from the North en went by us we would just head for home. As Luck would have it, Miss Lisa that always brings the " Flag Winners" list to me also had Lee deliver a Checkered Flag. So, we waited for the cars from the North end to pass by and we went and parked in the "Winners Area" and stayed for the closing ceremonies. I was not about to let the Flag get away.

Bert and Clint were still celebrating their birthdays, since last night! The proudly yelled. "Stay out of the Nines!" while I was on stage, the thought it might make me feel more at home, thanks Guys!

More than 300 cars once again WOW'd the Sea of spectators along the sidewalks and boulevards of Old Town, during yet another safe and successful running of this nearly 16 year old tradition, "The Saturday Nite Cruise®" at Old Town.

I know I speak for many Cruisers when I Thank the Sponsors and the Cruise Staff for this day with our friends, both new and old.

On to the Flag winners.
