A lot of ran has fallen the last 2 days. It
was still falling at noon today, we arrived at Old Town at 2:15. It
looked pretty gloomy but the rain had stopped. Only about 15 cars or so
had come in before we did. Just about 4:00 the Sun came out! It
got a little breezy and you could tell it was going to get a bit chilly
but the rain had ended just like the weatherman said.
The spectator crowd was very large tonight. Hard to believe
that there were that many out. One thing we should all do as Cruisers is
respectfully remind the spectators that the "Parade" takes place on the
Brick street to the West of "Trophy Row" for those of you reading this,
that don't know, it is "Deac Hundley Blvd." at 8:30PM and that they
should find a place to view starting at 8:00PM. "Trophy Row" becomes a
"Back Stage" area and for their safety they should not be wandering or
standing between the cars to view the "Parade" as we "Stage". The
Old Town Cruise Staff and the Cruisers are proud of "Safe" environment
for all involved. It would be so much easier for the Cruise Staff to get
things lined up and ready to go. Announcements are made to this effect,
however it never hurts to mention this, as some may not have heard over
the loud speakers. If they do need to be "Back Stage" please stay on
sidewalks, that the cars might be moving without notice.
Not to many if the "Regulars" were in place tonight, I am
sure it was the earlier weather that kept them away. A few "Drop your
Top" gang made it from Brevard county. "The Red Line Rodders" were all
in a line. Didn't see any of the "General Store Gang" and there were
just the 2 Rancheros in "Our" spot. Chuck & Libby brought out their
White over Red '57 Chevy Belair 2 door "post car" out to Old Town for
the first time. Joe & Kay brought out the '72 Camaro that was just added
to their "Stable". We had even more of the normal "Canadian Invasion".
some of the regular "Snowbirds" that we see every year.
Once again, a big, Thank You! to the sponsors of this
tradition, Mike T. Mr. Bill, Miss Lisa, Ron, Gary, Richard, Lee, Ben and
the rest of the Cruise Staff that keeps us all safe and me and Linda
coming back each and every week.
