The Friday Nite Cruise
At Old Town
West Highway 192
Kissimmee, Florida

June 30th

As we arrived at Old-Town at our regular time, Buzy and Sue, were already there. We spent some time watching the trial runs of the new ride, which is across from Flippers. This ride takes you a 120 feet in the air and drops you. Needless to say, we did not take the free ride offer. Stan wandered in around 3 o'clock and things were a little slow until 5 o'clock, when they let us in on the brick streets of Old-Town. There we heard the bad news that our friend
Chuck had passed away. He worked for the Old-Town Cruiser Staff. He will be missed by a lot of his friends. Our sympathy goes out to his family. On the brighter side, Bert Brown, seems to be doing well. We talked to Laverne and Bert's brother, who said, he would stay with Bert until things get better. He said, Bert is anxious to get back to Old-Town with all his friends. We are just as anxious to get him back. Let's all keep him in our prayers.

To all the Duke fans, they will be playing at Fred's Sports Grill, "formerly Damons", when they can be out. We will all miss them on the A & W corner. Give them your support. I know we will. The T-Birds were on stage tonight. They are very well liked by all. We had 97 cruisers tonight including a few who haven't been out for awhile. Gregg and Emma have been busy with their new home in Lakeland. We are glad they came back to visit us. Also Ken and Wanda wandered back after some time off. George and Sue came in with their PT cruiser to celebrate their 6th anniversary, they were married on stage here, 6 years ago. Congratulations. Jimmy Rodrigez , who lives in Polk City brought his Blue 1976 Chevy Vega out to show us tonight. This little car has a 350 engine with 475 horse power. It was modified to be a racing car, including a roll bar. But Jimmy just uses it for pleasure. He has had it for 8 years.

Butch Johnson came by to visit and helped us some on stage tonight. Joe tried his best to give away the Cruise-O-Matic. Even drew 10 numbers, but to no avail. Oh well, maybe next week. Our new staff is working out very well, and every thing went smooth tonight. Congratulations staff and keep up the good work. We got it made now. Lovely weather, no rain, but a little humid. Spectator crowd was good. A nice place to spend a Friday evening. Beautiful cars and friendly people. Hope to see you all there next Friday.
