It could not have been a more perfect day, temperatures in
the low 80's light breeze. Many of our "Snowbirds" cruised their last
Cruise of the season with us this year. The Foster's are headed home
towards New Jersey on the 3rd or so of April. A group of Saint Cloud
High School Students from John B's History class came out dressed in
50's clothes to soak up some of the automotive history. Who would have
thought a Car Cruise could be extra credit? Well it is a great display
of some fantastic historical artifacts of our culture. I think it also
might help us get a few more curators of "Rolling American History".
What better way to learn history, well, for most of us it was our youth.
Kudos to John B. and the students that came out tonight.
Beau did talk his ad into coming to the Cruise after his
Ball game. It is great to see the younger generation with interest in
this hobby that we all enjoy. I spotted Dave and Arleen come in,
delivered their newsletter and didn't see them again, just so many
people. "Dirty Mike" and Ellen made it out tonight as well, we don't get
to see them often, Dirt has such a busy schedule with the band. It is
always good to see "Captain Crunch" their '61 Tubbed out Ranchero. With
the crowd so large it was hard to get to see everyone.
The Mid
Florida Corvette Club Club brought out about 20 members or more.
They even donated several T-Shirts for the drawing. Thanks guys!
On April 22nd.
FACACA is planning a
"Run to the River" to attend the
31st annual Indian River Car Show in Titusville. You will find all
of the details and pre-registration form in the newsletter on the 6th of
April. It is important to send in the $20 and form before the 14th, you
even get a T-Shirt in the deal. Our Cruise Director, Tony DeBlasio is
the contact for signing up for the trip that leaves the Wal-Mart Parking
lot at 8:00 Sharp on that Saturday Morning.
The Trivia winner from a drawing of the answers submitted
was Cruiser # 735, Ralph Brueggeman. He took home the $10 Beef O'Bradys"
gift certificate.
Ray Wright, Cruiser # 730, had the lucky ticket for the
$144 50/50 he donated $20 back to the Cruise.
Tom & Wendy Dabrowski, Cruiser # 662, didn't bring
out their '78 Vette tonight so next week the "Cruise-A-Matic" rolls up
to $200.
"Cruiser of the Week" was awarded to Roger Fasnacht, #81,
with his '37 Ford Pickup.
The first ever "Duke Davis" Cruiser of the month was
awarded to Ron and Renee Adamson, Cruiser #725 and their '58 Chevrolet
DelRay.
Remember the 2nd Saturday of the month is the Car Show at
the "AutoZone" in Saint Cloud.
Get Well Marlene, it is hard to take Tony all on his own.
