June 1st
Tonight marks the 6th Anniversary of
this event, in it's present location we had 50 cars come out. The
scattered rain pattern kept many of the cars away. This small group
actually had a larger 50/50 than last week. We didn't have any rain drop
on us at all in the Lot next to the Sonic.
"Big John" pulled in just after Linda and I got there at
4:20. "Mustang Mike" was back with us, "Jalopy Jim" stopped in for a
bit. Ashley & Shelby filled in for "Duke" Davis who is still in
intensive care at the Osceola Regional Hospital, Kissimmee. Gertrude
stopped in with a report that "Duke" is getting a little stronger but
still has a fight ahead of him. As a group we would like to do something
for them in Lieu of flowers. Let's see how he does and what they might
need. "Duke" knows we are pulling for him, miss him and wish him a
speedy recovery.
Most of the "Regulars" were out, Bill & Pat Handy are with
us from Scotland, they came out with Tony & Marianne. John Robinson from
the Channel Islands just arrived today for a five week visit and brought
out his Mustang. Welcome back! We registered a few new Cruisers tonight
and welcome them, Jeff with his '69 Caddy Limo and Tony & Peggy Sue with
a '67 Chevy II Nova. (They are the 2nd registered owners.) Welcome.
Lot's of Grandkids out with the "Cruisers". Linda & I once again were
accompanied by Alexis. Tonight she had big brother Marcus with her.
It is good seeing these youngsters enjoying the history of the cars and
get to visit with lots of "Grandparents".
Tony reports that we have 25 cars going with us out to
Harmony on the 10th, that still gives us another week to get to any
other Cruisers that would like to join in. The "Sweet Sixteen"
anniversary Cruise at Old Town is on the 3rd, many are meeting early
Saturday Morning to caravan out.
The holder of the winning ticket for the $91 50/50 was
Cruiser #774 Stephanie Tengelin, she donated pat of it back to this
newsletter. Thank You.
The "Cruise-A-Matic" rolls up to $75 next week. Cruiser #
197, Bob & Mary Wilson were not out tonight.
"Cruiser of the Week", long over due, went home with
an original Cruiser that can not be with us as much as he would like to
be because of other commitments. However lately he has been around a
little more often, Always with us in his mind. The one the only and one
of the founders of this event way back when it was on New York Ave. John
& Mary Blumberg (John B.). Cruiser #43 with his '51 Chevy Pickup,
"Slick '51" and Grandchildren, tonight.
