The Summer afternoon showers were all around, it looked
like it was going to be another "Rain Out". "Jalopy Jim" filling in for
the ailing "Mustang Mike". Chris, our Cruiser of the Week" was the first
to arrive in his '65 Mustang 2+2 all the way from Palm Bay just before
5:00. Shortly after Ron brought in the DelRay, George from Atlanta
joined us. Then Don in his 2+2 Mustang joined them on the corner. Paul &
Jean were out in their Daily Drivers. Butch & Stephanie came in next
with the Gran Torino. Jim didn't start the music until after 6:00, just
to make sure that it wasn't going to rain. By then we had several cars
parked in the lot and many other cruisers that didn't' bring out their
cars. It still promised to be a nice nite, the surrounding showers
cooled it off quite nicely. Ed & Sherry came in the 'Vette, Tony &
Marlene brought out "Cletus" their '30 Chevy and parked next to our
Corvair, he is feeling much better now. The four of them gave me a nice
vacuum that I had once admired as a birthday present, you guys didn't
have to do that but you did so Thank You. John, Steve & Dustin came out
in a '83 red Mustang 5.0 Coupe. He took it in trade for the Mercury.
Bob brought out the '41 Buick, The Wookie in the "Heart
Breaker" Steve, Charlie and Marie came in the deVille. Jim was in the
GTO just to mention a few. Bob & Cindy in their '68 Mustang joined in
with us tonight, Welcome. "Frick & Frack" were both out tonight, Frick,
Bob, helped Jim sell the tickets in the trailer. Shelby also helped in
the trailer. Tony & Sharon were late. Sharon stopped by the the testing
session at the Osceola ARES/SKYWARN monthly meeting at the American Red
Cross. She not only passed here test she scored 100% on it, one of 2
people that scored that high in the County, the other was another
Cruiser. So our group has another licensed Amateur Radio Technician
class operator. Congratulations Sharon, I knew you could do it. Ed &
Evelyn came out in the daily driver to pick up Trinny, Craig & Mary's
granddaughter, to spend some time with Michelle out at Ed & Evleyn's. Ed
also took home "Lucy" for some tune up work. Gary & Wanda were out in
the "Remember When". We all stuck it out and 20 or so cars joined us and
it never did rain.
Even with this small crowd the 50/50 was $124. Francine, a
regular spectator went home with it, well most of it, she donated $20 to
the newsletter. Thank You. The "Cruise-A-Matic" of $50 would have went
home with Cruiser #71, Bob Sorci, if he would have been out, So, next
week it rolls to $75.
"Cruiser of the Week" went to Cruiser #529, Ed "The Wookie"
Guglich and his '83 Mustang. First guy to get it twice this year, the
committee must have bumped their heads or something. However they told
me no more awards until he has cruised that imaginary? Buick for a
while.
On the way home Linda and I stopped by and saw Bob &
Marge's '27 Model T roadster, what a great original restoration! Bob is
looking for some one to give it a good home, it's just too good to Hot
Rod.
Here are a few photos.
