April 27th
Again the weather man
was wrong, he had been promising rain for today all week long. Well it
was raining somewhere in Central Florida but it stayed away from our
Cruise-In it was very windy though. Tonight the Mid Florida Corvette
Club joined us in force. Twenty or more was back in the "Field of
Dreams". The "Rat Pack" as
Mustang Mike called them, were lined up from the "Sonic" sign into the
second parking area along highway 192. Then Bob had his Camaro and Dan &
Liz returned with "Mean Green" their little Rambler. All of the regulars
including "Nicky Bop" in his "Looking for an Echo" Duce Coupe. Tony &
Marianne. Trevor had his place of honor as "Cruiser of the Week". Neil &
Elaine made it back out, arriving from England just yesterday. Always
good to see them and the Healy. Even Steve & Cheryl came out for a bit,
Steve and the "Ed the Corvair Tour Guide" just got in from a road trip
to PA at about 4:30. Ron & Shirley brought out my Favorite Chevy and
were sharing the Trip details with fellow Cruisers, They are headed out
on "US Tour" with their Fifth Wheel in June. "Big Jim" rolled his
powerful Green '68 Chevelle, that he has owned since it was new, in just
a little later than usual, well, all that Chrome you know, takes time to
get "Just Right". Dane brought out Doc's hot little S-10 Cara and Doc
joined later. Jack had his '29 Model A, "Old Yeller", thanks for the
donation. Frick and Frack, I mean Ben and Willard, oh you know, Bob &
Ron, that's it had the '36 Ford and the Corvair down in the shade next
to Jaime's Cobra. Mike and Jimmy were the only ones in Street Rod row,
well, across from it anyway. I think this might even be the last
Cruise-In for Little John. one of our regular spectators, before going
back up north.
Once the car count started to climb it was harder to get to
talk with many of the "Family". I ran out of newsletters early, those
that didn't get one tonight I will have more at Old Town on Saturday.
Larry brought out the '48 Chevy, Roger had his '37 Pickup. Just too many
to list. What a great night for a Cruise-In. Always is.
Al Wendling had the winning ticket for the $140 50/50, he
then donated $10 to this newsletter. Thank You.
Jeff Sutton, Cruiser # 630 would have taken home the $275
Cruise-A-Matic" but he wasn't out tonight. Thant means, next week the
$300 will be given away! We will draw until we have a winner.
The "Cruiser of the Week" went to "Big" Jim & Norma
Wirebaugh and their '68 Chevelle.
The "Duke" Davis "Cruiser of the Month" went to Tony &
Sharon DeBlasio and their '69 Ranchero, "Lucy"
