December 27th
It was one of those December days when the sun was
bright and high in the sky, breezy with light clouds but.... it was
COLD. Unseasonably cold, the high only reached 57 degrees by Cruise-In
time. Things like "I think I am going to move to Florida next year" were
heard, oh wait, I said that. Thought it sounded familiar. Anyway by the
time Linda & I arrived at 4:25 "Big" John had the '54 'Vette parked in a
spot waiting for the rest of us to roll into the "Square". "Mustang
Mike" came in about 4:30. We were unsure if the Cruise-In was even going
to happen. Then Tommy parked his GMC next to our Ranchero. It was a
while before any of the others arrived.
Tonight was the last Cruise-In of the year for our venues
in Saint Cloud but this colder weather was keeping some away. Not Tony &
Marianne though, they came out in the '71 Monte Carlo. Ron Hood was out
in his Blue '53 Chevy, he's looking better every week. Bert & "Ernie"
had the probe out. Phillip in his Camaro. Louie in his '52 Ford. Ron in
the '61 Caddy. Larry actually has had the same red '70 Chevy pickup for
more than a month now. Bob was in the Orange Chevelle, Steve & Charlie
in the '77 deVille. Andy in his '79 deVille. The "Wookie" followed him
in. Nope, still no Buick! Bob came later in his '41 Buick and of course,
George in the '61 Falcon was last to arrive. I hope I mentioned
everyone, we did end up with 17 cars, not to bad for a slow start.
The 50/50 of $30 was taken home by Ron Hood. He donated a
portion to this newsletter, thank you.
If Tony wouldn't have had to work overtime tonight, he and
Sharon would have gone home with $20 as their number 163 was drawn.
Awwwww. so next week the prize rolls up to $30.
"Cruiser of the Week" went home in Bob & Marge Melendy's,
Cruiser #149, 1941 Buick.
All of us spent most of the evening inside Bites, the
breeze died down a bit just before the drawings so we all huddled on the
veranda so that we might hear our numbers called.
On to a few photos.
