August 9th
What a fantastic day, a real Florida weather
day, the high was right at about 90 degrees, light breeze and low
humidity. We arrived at about the time "Mustang Mike" did. Paul & Tommy
were the next to arrive as usual. Mike & Bagel stopped by, they are in
town this week with the president of the McMinnville, Tennessee car
club, James Kirby, that he and Carol Cruise with up there. Mike was
looking very trim, I guess climbing all those hills is doing him some
good. Louie brought out the '52 Ford, then Don in the Red 2+2 Mustang,
Ron in the DelRay followed a little later, hmmm must have over slept.
Dennis and Francine, regular spectators from Thursday Nite stopped out
to spend the evening with us and join in on the 50/50 and prize
drawings. The other "Die Hards" including Bill in his Blazer and Jim in
the GTO were out. Bob had his Camaro across from our Corvair then Steve
& Charlie came in in the Caddy. Richard had his Model A pickup out,
always good to see him and one of his great cars in attendance. Al
rolled his Model A in so I figured that would be the end of the arrivals
but then just about 7:00 here comes George in the '61 Falcon. We all saw
a little of the "Wookie's" Buick, he had the Skylark script from the
fenders, both were broken and were supposed to have been re-chromed. He
wanted to show us just the luck he has been having, getting this car
done.
One would have thought that we would have had a larger
attendance than the 17 cars that were counted, guess the grass was too
long at home or the "Honey Do" lists needed attending or maybe some just
are out of town, even us Floridians go on vacation. Tony was out in
"Lucy" with out Sharon, she was home packing for a trip to Wisconsin. He
only had time enough to say hi to those present and headed home to help
get ready for tomorrows flight.
As always the Robertson's made us feel at home, Judy even
took time to have a few photos taken with Cruisers. Always a good time
at the "Square".
The 50/50 of $35, not bad for so few cars went home with Ed
the "Wookie" Guglich. He did have the Mustang out tonight and as much of
the Buick as he could bring. At least he is trying.
The "Cruise-A-Matic" of $45 would have gone home with Ed &
Sherry Gasdick, who is usually out but they were not tonight, AWWWWWWW,
so next week $55 is in the offering.
"Cruiser of the Week" went home in the yellow '77 Cadillac
Coupe deVille driven by
Steve Clarke, Cruiser #5. Earlier in the evening Steve was showing
off one of the only options his deVille didn't have that was offered by
GM 1977 but he found it on e-bay. A real OEM 8-Track in dash stereo!
