"A Beautiful Fall Day, Happy Birthday Lisa and Rutha!"
We arrived at Old Town around 2:00, there were about 15 or so cars ahead
of us. Linda and I went around for a visit and dropped off the
Newsletters to our "Regulars". The "Drop Your Top" gang were in their
normal spot, not to close to the stage. Just before 4:00 Mike and Carol
with the '54 Hudson Hornet joined us at our regular spot on block 4,
right behind "Black Hill's Minerals". By the time the gates closed at
5:00 there were not that many cars on "Trophy Row". The four of us went
to "Flippers" for a Pizza while the Cruise Staff took their lunch brake
and helped Lisa and Rutha celebrate birthdays.
When the gates opened at 5:00 it was a constant flow of cars right up to
the 8:00 deadline. Seems like the "General Store" bunch must have gone
to other events today as they we're not to be found. Bill, Virginia and
Trevor had a guest with them tonight. Virginia's brother, Marvin, on
vacation form PA, actually rode in with Trevor and Bill and they took a
spot between the Hudson and our Ranchero. That was it for the regulars
at our spot. Steve & Cheryl, Ed & Evelyn, Tom & Edna and Tony & Sharron
went to the Plant City Show today to "Payback" the four that came up for
the Corvair Family Reunion. Doug & Trish had the GTO and the Bronco just
down the street from us, watch out for Corvette Doors, Trish, they hurt
don't they. Jack and Donna had the '41 Willys parked up by the Cruise
office, out for the first time tonight. Of course "Old Town Radio" could
be heard all over Town with Mike Singer at the controls.
J and Mark from England had J's Pro-Street '69 Camaro on display near
the stage. I know that J races it but It must have been exciting for
them to pilot that car down "Deac Hundley Blvd." for the first time.
This car came a long way to do the Saturday Nite Cruise, shipped the
4600 miles then driven from Miami. It will be back here at Old Town in
two weeks. Gus may also have the Old Chevy Pickup here too.
Dominic Paris with his Twin Hemi Rear
Engine Top Fuel drag car was at Old Town tonight. What a Blast from the
racing past! This is a 200+MPH car that ran in the early ‘70’s. It
followed Emil Horowitz "Cruiser of the Month" in his '48 Ford along the
brick streets for all to see.
Even with Central Florida having four Monthly and or Annual Events going
in in nearby cities, over 200 cars "Cruised "! This was to the delight
of what I would think was a record crowd of spectators that lined
Boulevard and West Side sidewalks of Deac Hundley Blvd. Once again this
15+ year tradition brought many smiles and memories to all.
