November 5th

The BPOC show was in "Town" today, this was their "Rain Day". When we arrived shortly after 1:00PM "Trophy Row" was populated with just about any Buick, Pontiac, Oldsmobile or Cadillac that you could imagine. There had to be over 350 of them. Upon arrival we were directed to the parking lot on the West Side of block four, as a staging area, us regulars were to park and wait the departure of the show participants. At 4:00PM we were then to be directed out of this area and allowed into "Trophy Row". Ron H. was in charge of the lot, he instructed every one as they arrived that this was to be an orderly procession, we were to leave as we arrived by registration number. This was a job well done. Only a few "staged" cars went out of order but this was not the fault of Ron, just "Cruisers" being impatient or not understanding what was going on.

Linda and I took a stroll to check out some of these great cars that were on display. We saw Andy B. and Steve C. who were displaying their Cadillac deVilles near the stage. It is always good seeing them and those near showroom condition late '70 cars they are so proud of.

Like any big show at Old Town it sort of displaces many of the "Die Hards" from their "Regular" parking spots. Cruisers, we need to remember that there are only a few spots that are reserved for anyone. It is first come first serve, that the Cruise Staff are the only ones that can "Save" a spot for anyone or an area for special events or VIP cars. I know this can be frustrating especially to those of us who come out every week, rain or shine to have our cars be the "Stars" of the Saturday Nite Cruise®. This is why you see some of us coming out very early to get "Our Spots", sometimes we get them sometimes we don't.

With that said, it is always good to see old friends and make new ones. Tonight, Neil and Elaine, a Cruising couple from England that have a vacation home here, brought out both of their English sports cars, it wasn't until after a bit of juggling once some of the newer BPOC participants finally left, that they were even able to park side by side. Not even the "General Store Gang" got as close together as they would have liked too. Dan Z brought the "Metropolitan on Steroids" to "Trophy Row" for the first time tonight. What a contrast to the Red and White one that lives under the stairs by Florida Plaza driven by the Lutz's.

Old Town radio came through the speakers entertaining the crowd. "Topaz" was due to be on stage at 7:00PM, Jim and Craig, "The Dukes" were to be on the corner by the A&W around 6:30PM, they always attract a crowd and whenever they have a free Friday or Saturday nite you will find them here.

I would personally like to thank those of you that are regular readers and supporters of this newsletter, it sure makes the effort put into it worthwhile. So THANK YOU!

Our neighbors and friends to many Cruisers stopped by to have a chat with us and Nancy was tickled to ride in Steve's Model A during the Cruise that had nearly 300 cars making their way down "Deac Hundley Blvd." right on time at 8:30PM.

With the massive crowd of spectators that seemed to build larger than ever with the show that went on during the day and the shuffle of the cars, we all need to thank Mike T., Mr. Bill, Ron H., Ben, Tom, Gary, Richard, Cary and the rest of the Cruise staff for another Safe and fun Saturday.

Thank You to Miss Lisa for getting me the winners list during the distribution of the flags so that I was able to have it posted here by 10:30PM tonight.
