November 12th
Nearly 300 cars came out on this picture perfect
day, this is the weather that bring out lots of cars, tonight was no
exception. We arrived a little early today, of course Mr. Bill didn't
realize that it was us in the Little Corvair today, he is so used to
seeing us in the Ranchero. As we made our way to block 4, many of the
regulars were in their normal "spots" as we drove by. Gary dropped the
wire for us to cross Florida Plaza. Once we parked Linda an I made our
way out to deliver the newsletters.
It was good to see the Regulars in the parking
spots that they are used to having. Bob Burke was right next to Larry &
Chris that were next to Butch and Stephanie on the bottom of block 2.
John Cain had his "Double Nickel Express" parked under his Decade of
Cruising sign instead of that Nova he had been bringing out the last few
weeks.
We found Bob & Marge, Ralph and a few others "On
Stage" relaxing a bit in the beautiful breeze. The "Drop Your Top" gang,
Bob and Tom, from Brevard county had 2 others lined up beside them just
a few spots down from the stage. Ben Franklin was back in his spot way
up at the top of block one.
Tony & Sharon were the first to join us behind the
"Black Hill's Minerals" about the same time Bob B. started the line up
for the "General Store Gang" followed by Dan & Liz, a little later Ron
in his '34 Ford. Big Jim & Norma brought the Chevelle out once again
before dark. Bill, Virginia and Trevor were the next to join us followed
by Ed & Evelyn. Terry left a spot for Mike & Carol for their '54 Hudson.
After a bunch of us came back from dinner, at the
5:00 Gate opening the cars started to roll in, it stayed a steady flow
almost all night right up to the 8:00 closing.
The extremely large crowd of spectators that had
been to "Town" to enjoy it's shopping and of course the impressive
display of cars along "Trophy Row" were not going to be disappointed.
Mike Singer was entertaining all with his mix of "Oldies" that could be
heard everywhere on "Old Town Radio". "The Company" one of the Cruisers
favorite bands were due to be on stage at 7:00PM.
Right on time the Cruisers rounded the turn at
"Kids Town" lead by "Cruiser of the Month" in the Red Electra
Convertible, to a cheering crowd of spectators lining the West Side of
"Deac Hundley Blvd."
We have done this so many times that we are even
starting to recognize many of the "Regular" spectators that come out
every Saturday Nite. Bill & Doris, Friday Nite Cruisers, must set up
early as they are always the first people we see on the left as we make
the turn.
Again we must thank the Entire Cruise-In Staff for
another fun and safe night at this tradition in Old Town, the "Saturday
Nite Cruise®".
Thank you to all the readers and supporters of the
prints version and this website.
