I hate to sound like a broken record, but that weatherman had promised
us a 90% chance of rain just yesterday. It was raining all around Old
Town. This keeps a lot of spectators and "Cruisers" away from this
weekly event. We arrived about 2:15 and there were only a few of the
"Die Hards" in place. The Sun was shining and it was very warm. It never
rained at all on "Trophy Row"
It is always a good time here on Saturday's, the cars are great and the
Cruise Staff is always fun to be around. All of the friends we have made
and the new ones that we make each week. This is why we keep coming
back.
The spectator crowd grew rapidly just before Cruise time. They were not
to be disappointed, as did the "Cruiser" count, at 8:30 nearly 200 cars
made that turn by "Kids Town" and made their way down the brick streets.
It is always great hearing people make remarks on the cars as they
"Cruise" by. Like their Father had one of those. or I haven't seen that
car since I was a kid back in the 60's. My favorite is "I always wanted
one of those" and "I didn't think there were any of those left on the
road." Many of these near "Show Room" condition cars and special
interest cars that show on "Trophy Row" can actually be seen every day
running up an down the highways in Central Florida. Some are brought out
on trailers, but not many of them. These Cruisers like to "Cruise" these
cars as often as they can. Our little Ranchero is one of two cars we
own. Right now it is they only car that we drive on a daily basis. The
'61 Corvair Monza we bought in April is still getting ready to be placed
into service.
