June 11th

So much Rain! We are all getting a little tired of wiping our cars down 3 and 4 times a nite, not really, after all it is Florida, this is June and it is only water! I for one wouldn't miss a Cruise. Only 3 times in the last 2 + years have we not brought the old Ranchero to "Cruise on down to the Old Town Saturday Nite Cruise". Once because we were at the Falcon Club of America's Nationals in Arlington, Texas and the other 2 were due to Hurricanes last year.

I have been a "Cruiser" at Old Town off and on for 15 years now. This 15 year old tradition continues to keep spectators in awe, even in the poring rain! This is why I keep coming back "Rain or Shine".

With "Hot Rod" magazines "Power Tour 2005" in town since last night finale, there was a chance to have thousands of cars in attendance tonight. Problem was, Tropical Storm Arlene was out in the Gulf of Mexico. She really was not the direct result of the rains today but the media was alarming us that the rain was to be intense. Well it was at times but by 8:30 it was a beautiful evening.

There were nearly 100 "Long Haulers" joining in tonight, Mike T. had hoped and set up spots to accommodate several hundred, unfortunately the rain kept away most of them and many "Locals" too. But it never really Rains at Old Town. Just an extra rinse cycle provided by mother nature. Today it was many rinse cycles! It's too bad that the weather wasn't nicer, I am sure that all of the "Power Tour 2005" bunch would have loved Old Town. Next year the "Power Tour" starts out her in Kissimmee and I hope many of the "Long Haulers" come down to Florida and enjoy "The Saturday Nite Cruise®"  before leaving town.

On to tonight's flag winners....

Tonight's random drawing winners that and received the coveted "Old Town Checkered Flag" along with $25 cash, a case of Valvoline 20W50 Racing Oil and a drink from the Tropical Breeze The $50 Cruise-O-Matic was not won so next week it is up to $50.

Congratulations to the Checkered Flag Winners!
