Noon it was raining at Old Town, lots of rain.... But by the time we got
there at 2:00 the SUN WAS SHINING! Just one more time it looked as
though it might do it again. It never did. there weren't many cars
around when the gates closed at 4:00 to give the staff the only break of
the day.
5:00 came around the steady flow of cars started
coming in as well as the spectators. It was a little warm and humid but
what a day! Even Jim and Craig ('daDukes) came out to sing some
of that Doo Wop they sing so well.
Leroy our resident "Clown", he drives a T-Bucket with
the footprints and flames, made it back out tonight. Haven't seen him
much lately , Gary Collins finally talked him into making it out
tonight. He was surprised that he was missed. This is quite a
diverse family of people that make up the regular "Die Hards" that come
out every Saturday Nite, "Rain or Shine"
Linda and I where very disappointed when the clutch
in "Elvira" our ol' Ranchero gave us a fright right at cruise time. So
for safety sake we did not "Hit the Bricks" tonight. This is the first
time in over 2 years she has not made that trip. The other 189 cars did
"WOW" the spectators right on time at 8:30. I think Elvira was missed,
well OK I hope she was.
Steve McCullough was really in his element tonight as
he and "Blanche", his Yellow '29 Model A Ford Sport Coupe came to
our rescue and the rescue of Ed's Corvair that was giving him a fit on
the way home.
As always it was a great time at Old Town once again!
